I just came across this thread.
In August I was attending the annual week-long historic automobile festivities at Monterey/Laguna Seca (CA). The day before the Pebble Beach Concours I wondered through the polo field to view the show cars getting ready for the concours. When I came across an old lady helping to change the tire on an old car. My curiosity led me to go over and strike up a conversation. It was Margret, the woman in your article. She drove that car a couple days prior on what they call "the tour"; basically a long trip through the back roads, where all of the concours entrants can drive their cars for extra show points (i.e. they run as well as they look...great idea, wish bike shows did that). Yes, she drove that car all over the place! Turns out she got a flat tire during the drive, which is why I saw her helping to change it.
It was truly an inspiration to meet her. She was sharp, friendly and full of life.
