Hi,

I was doing an install of clubman's on my bike however I can't get the throttle to "snap" back. I looked around the forums but didn't have much luck.

Its only a few inches off from having the snap back.
(Don't mind the stock lights they won't be there when the bar is installed permanently, this was more of a prefit, before I have the parts to change stuff around)

These first two it snaps back perfect.

When it's where it should be it doesn't.

I tried moving the cable around to see if it would free up if in a different position to no avail.

Is there a way to adjust the cables and fix this or do I need to buy shorter cables?

Thanks

Rotate the switch block on the bars so that the cables are in a more natural curve.

If you can run the cables on the other side of the headstock it will give you a less aggressive curve out of the throttle. That's more than likely the main part of your problem.

Damn, dude, you got a lot of shoes.

Yeah the bike is at my folk's place, they are packrats, all those shoes for two people haha.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep working on it.

Is the throttle like stick and sluggish to come out of revs? mine does the same thing and i cant get it to stop, loosened the switch housing, lubed it... idk

You know, now that I think about it, I had this problem once too. I switched out the stock handle bars for straight bars, and when I put everything back together, the damn throttle would just slowly turn back. If I remember right, it turned out that the throttle wasn't the problem, it was the cable. The cable was rubbing up against a part of the engine wrong, or something like that. I'd say if you've done everything you can with the throttle, starting from the handle bars, trace the cable back to the carbs and see if it gets stuck anywhere. And if not, maybe the cable needs to be lubed up?

I had a similar problem, and it was the bar end mirrors, they were too tight against the throttle tube. Plus the new handgrips were rubbing on the mirrors too. So I gave them all a little more room and it was no problem.

Route throttle cables on the left side of steering head, the bend is too tight.
Get some oil down them as well, they are probably a bit dry
Just noticed hillsy gave same advice
