Is this really a GS1000S?!

hey all, I was wondering if someone may be able to help me. I have a 1979 GS1000S I THINK.. the only reason im not sure is because the windshield I have doesn't look like anything I have seen while searching the web for. maybe its after market since the exhaust also after market (kerker). I cant imagine why the previous owner would change from the original windshield to this, but he did. anyway, here she is.

What's the title / VIN say?

The picture is a little dark, but the entire fairing looks aftermarket. Airtech sells the Cooley replica fairings.

No title, but the vin starts out GS1000-125.. im wondering if the vin would say GS1000S...? this is literally my first bike so im clueless. I just don't think this is a 1000S. although the vinyl decals say so. LOL and after looking I just saw that the windshield is made by rifle. guess that settles it?

I would definitely take more / better pics and post them on the GSResources. You'll have a very definitive answer within minutes.

Congrats on the bike either way - but be careful. A 1979 liter bike isn't usually a good "first bike".

Thats definitely not a cooley fairing. Post a pic of the gauge cluster. Does it have a clock?

Check out these pics to compare http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suzuki-GS-1980-Suzuki-GS1000-S-GS1000ST-/181134251559?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item2a2c715627#v4-38 and as Rich said go to www.thegsresources.com they will tell you exactly what you have...

Wow, what a gorgeous bike!! Id love to have a Wes Cooley bike, but I guess I'm kind of glad its not. Now I can make some changes and not worry about destroying something that, to me, was already perfect! You guys are awesome on here! Can't wait to pick your brains more. Im joining the other forum now.
