It all Started here:: My SkyTeam Ace story

Hi Mikey,

I only became aware of the Ace in the past week and I love it. I am following your thread and will no doubt borrow some of your ideas if I get an Ace. I like all the modifications that you have made. I wonder how many of these bikes are on the road in the UK.

Hi Mikey,

I am still waiting for the local dealer to contact me once they get one in stock. I want to see one and have a sit on one before committing myself. What size bar end mirror did you fit (fitting size) and what is involved in fitting?

Thanks

Wayne

Was suposed to be for a 22mm bar but even with the correct adaptor on was a bit of a faff. Ended up using some gaffer tape to pad her out but shes in solid now :)

BTW if putting one in the OEM bars you wil need to knock the weight in first

Hi Mikey,

Thanks for the info. I have now seen my first Ace at a bike shop in Bournemouth. Being 5ft6 it fitted me nicely. The only thing I forgot to do was start the bike up to hear it run. I leave for work at 5.30am so I dont want to annoy the neighbours. I have now contacted the 3 nearest dealers and they will all do the bike for £1700 on the road. I am off to the bike show at the end of the month so I will wait until I have been to see wether any dealers are there with special offers. If I have to pay £1700 I might just wait until March 1st and get a 14 plate. I wouldn't get much use out of it until then anyway. I'd like to see some modified ones up close to give me some ideas.

I've got a non standard sports exhaust & wire mesh air filter & ticking over she sounds like this

Thanks Mikey,

I'm not getting anything from the link on the works pc, I will try again when I get home.

they've probably blocked youtube at work

try downloading it from my website

Thats blocked as well, I'll take a look when I get home tonight.

Do you know what the MOT law on motorbike emmissions is in the uk? If the cat has been removed will this affect the MOT? Its been 20 years since I owned my own bike, I borrowed my Dads a few weeks ago and this has whats got me looking for another one. I only fancy something small so the Ace would be perfect.

Currently emissions are not checked as part of the MOT, just for excessive noise

That does not sound too loud. I would definitely change the exhaust to derestrict the bike.

Not quite sure where it was sourced from(long story lol) but the chrome exhaust I have is classed as a sports exhaust and is already decatted.

Having siad that I'm 99% certain it's the same item mentioned at F2 Motorcycles

3. Chrome performance exhaust with no catalytic converter and jet kit £150.00 including fitting

http://www.f2motorcycles.ltd.uk/skyteam_ace.html

In terms of performance I'm still running her in (plus I've as you've probably gathered) done a few tweaks but I have had her at 63mph (I've calibrated my Acewell correctly) which ties in exactly with what she should be doing on standard gearing at peak power RPM

mickeyw64, this has probably been asked, but what is the name of the gearing ratio/ rpm xls spreadsheet you have, and can I get it from anywhere?

cheers, stevo.

Hi Steve

created it at http://woodsware.aciwebs.com/gears/

Its saved under Skyteam Ace 125 (the one I did has the write up about the tyre size being wrong should be 90/90/18 rather than 90/100/18)

cheers, looking at a better ratio.
i've picked out 17x37, but unsure if i can run with the same chain?
It gives a bit more to the top speed, but unsure if that will make it bog down too much.

OO Racing recommend just swapping the rear out for a 34 instead of the default 38 and leaving the front alone

New 7" headlamp with HID conversion kit ready to be fitted

Love the Taiwanese sense of humour 8)

Picked it up at a local bike emporium, already had the HID kit left over from a previous project
