What originally began as a fun little diversion is quickly heading towards a convoluted mess. Keep it simple and don't take it so seriously.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I tend to over think things. I also think tone gets lost in these posts sometimes. I sure wasn't trying to start anything.

NOW, back to BOTM and my apologies for the derailment ::)

Sorry guys, i didn't mean to come off like that. It's just that i'd like the opportunity to be nominated here myself one day (as i'm sure we ll would) but i wouldn't like to be not eligible due to having not put a thread up for the bike build. I just personally would've hated to see that happen. No hard feelings?

Just post a shortened, condensed version of your build thread, then all will be cool.

I'm all for keeping things simple! That's what I thought I was suggesting. Pretty much a life motto for me. Just thought it would be a shame for some of the kick ass bikes that are represented here not to get a chance at BOTM because they didn't post enough. The build thread suggestion was basically an afterthought. I'll be lucky if I've got 50 posts by the time my bike is done, and even luckier if it's nominated! By that time, it may be the only one left that hasn't been nominated! ;D

Anyway...Keep it simple...carry on!

I can see both sides of this argument. We def wouldn't want a new member who bought a kickin cafe/bobber/whatever to get the BOTM but at the same time there are people who have WAY too much time on there hands and spend it online (guilty myself). If somebody doesn't know diddly about the bike they are riding - no votes. I forget who it is but there's a guy on here that has had a Kawi for decades and it looks to be a pretty sweet bike but didn't know of DTT til recently. He is/was workin out the seat (which is amazing work) and posting pics and answering questions along the way. Even if he has 20 posts by the time it's done, he could have my vote!

After all is said and done it's like Tim said, all comes down to votes.

And great job to all the nominees! It's good to have a goal set.

Love em all. But gotta give my vote to Hotfunk's green machine. What a classic....................

Hey thanks, all votes welcome by the way ;D

Has anyone brought up the point of having bikes built by professionals and then putting them up for BOTM. To me having someone do all the work on your bike for you and then post it up for BOTM is a little questionable. I can take and buy a $200 cb and take it down to the local vintage bike shop, drop about $3000 on it and then post it up saying that it's mine? Doesn't seem right. What do you guys think? Sorry if this has been brought up already. I would just hate that if my bike ever got put up for BOTM, ;), knowing that I went over every nut and bolt, inside and out of the engine, paint and body work, and have some guy thats got a lot of cash laying around win BOTM for his garage queen. I know that not everyone is mechanically inclinded but everyone can do something. My 2 pennies.

Kinda the same idea as Gage Werke Composites. I agree whole-heartedly

I agree with Tim, no need to set rules. Things like that will be taken care of in the voting.

Whoa, stay away from the rules! If you go the "rules route", pretty soon well have to get Tim to set up a "points system" for hand made seats and other parts!! ;)

Every bike is a little different. One guy (gal!) buys a seat, and another builds his (her!) own. You install yours and I get my buddy to help me, etc, etc. I don't think we wanna go too far down this road, IMO.

As has already been said, "Let's let the voters decide!!" 8)

One last comment. ;)

I don't think it should matter how long they've been a DTT Member. Two years or 2 days, it shouldn't make a difference. As well, I don't care if they have a build thread or not, a cool bike is a cool bike. Built "here" or not. :) If they're part of "The Family", they'll probably be anxious to share pics and experiences anyway!

O'k, that was 2 comments. Sorry.

Carry on and don't forget to vote.

Drewski hit it on the head. Everybody is different; if a guy is blessed with skills that another guy isn't blessed with, then he finds his reward in that. The BOTM is (as it should be) a voter based result.

BOTM: Wow! This is the first one that I've participated in. Are the applicants always this qualified???!!! Man, these machines got it going on! Verrrrrry difficult to decide. To all you candidates: great work guys! Just great work!

Thank you and thanks to all you guys for the votes. I am new here and have limited access to post things which is why I am so amazed at the votes. Just, thank you.

Jeesh... I had no idea this thread was picking up this much speed! I'm buried in the website and haven't had any time these past weeks to come up for air!

I need to pull up some old photos and will put together the storyline and what this bike is responsible for inspiring. It's a damn fine story no doubt!

Thanks for the nomination and all the votes guys! I can tell everyone that I took her on virgin run last week to the local Quaker Steak and Lube. I was appluaded by tons of people, couldn't keep them away and the old cats riding rigid Harley's gave me the thumbs up.

Oh, and this thing is bitchin to ride on the road... ;)
