Jets in 30mm flat slides on a 378? PWK30

tweakedlogic

Been Around the Block
I've built a 378 out of my cb360. I bought some Mikuni 30mm flat slides. Looking for a base line for jets.

Edit: I was dumb. They are Keihin PWK30

Re: Jets in 30mm flat slides on a 378?

I never was able to get my 378 sorted with 30’s. I ran mine with 28’s most effectively.

Re: Jets in 30mm flat slides on a 378?

Well that's not good news. I accidentally bought 32mm flat slides first. When they showed up I bought the 30s.

(Sigh) what jets did you end up using in your 28s? I guess I'll be shopping later.

Re: Jets in 30mm flat slides on a 378?

I don't want to say you won't be able to sort the 30s at all, but I never got mine sorted. You'll get much better torque out of the 28s, though. I'll have to dig through my thread to see what I ran in the 28s, since I can't remember.

Re: Jets in 30mm flat slides on a 378?

i hate to even ask but are these new?

if so can you post a picture

mikuni does not make a tm or tmx 30 mm carb unless this is for some proprietary install worked out with mikuni for oem

but this size is not listed in the catalouge

there are "copies" let me have a look

the "copies come with a 4.0 2 stroke slide in them and im not sure you can get different ones for them

Yes they're new. I hope they're not copies for the price. They are still in the shipping box in the shop. I'll go out and take some pics

im no keihin expert but they dont list that either and i dont have any jetting info for it in my keihin guides

so unless its a oem propriety its not to be had to aftermarket? so please post a pic so i can see?? or maybe someone will set me straight

here is the keihin guide

if they are not genuine then i would move to return them

if they are knock offs they are a big pain both for parts and function

That would be my luck

Is it possible those are JRC carbs? Chopper places offer those as Amal alternatives

So if I try to use these, I'm on my own for jets and may not even be able to find them. Even if I do, I'm likely not going to be able to tune it because I should have gotten 28mm... is that what your saying?

I think you’ll get the tune close, maybe not perfect. 30mm Mikuni VM were always rich with mine and they had a bog I couldn’t get rid of. They were good in some parts of the throttle and not as good in others. These may be totally different.

how long ago did you get them if within 6 months you should be able to return them as they are not genuine

and you cannot use them they are cheap knock offs both ebay and paypal are good about that

like these

https://www.amazon.com/Maple-Carburetor-applied-scooter-replacement/dp/B07G2R4Q41

you can use the keihin catalouge as further proof

then get a set of 28 from mikuni if you have any trouble finding them or are worried contact me

i dont stock the 28 but i can have it in a few day

then parts and jetting combos will be easy to find we can help you then

and im sorry to be the one to tell you

It's been more than 6 months. I bought them at the start of the engine build. I ended up doing lots of things like port and polishing, plumbed for external oil filter and cooler, "oil filter" delete, turned down the flywheel and rotating mass... Other stuff too and it took a while. Now I've finally started with the frame mock up etc, so I thought I should begin collecting everything for a test fire.

Gonna be sweet when I'm done. Dual disk front brakes (hopefully disc brake rear) laced to 17" alloy hoops. External oil cooler and spin on filter.

I hope I can stop wasting money on things I can't use though
