Mad Science!
DTT BOTM WINNER
Some of you guys already know this, but I am knee deep in the middle of my 1200 square foot 30x40 garage mahal. I still love you guys! I just wanna get the dream spot close to finished before Christmas. Just checking in and letting you all know that the force is still strong here in 'Bama!!!!

Almost ready for the metal roof. A few more purlins to put up.

Thanks to Jared (cyclefreak), Neal, Thomas, and PJ. Good friends are priceless and I owe you all more than I can ever repay (But I'll sure try!). BTW, this is NOT OSHA approved!

Header boards installed with the help of a Geo tracker. Considering it lifted the tracker into the air, I'd say its gonna be strong with sandwiched 2x12s.

All headers hurricane strapped:

BTW, those are 32 foot scissor trusses. Over 15 feet to the peak. Need the headroom for the auto lift.

Soffits are done.

Next up is the metal roofing, and after that the concrete floor. She's getting there. I'm doing this all on a no loan budget, so it is slower than I would like, but it will be nice not to have a payment in the end. It will house a paint booth, a clean room, an overhead jib crane, a 2 post auto lift made by maxjaxx that converts from one car lift or 2 moto lifts. It's a dream coming true, but damn my back is sore! Anyway, I'm still kicking. Just rocking the hammer instead of a wrench for a while.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Very cool! That's something I know a lot of us only get to dream about having. But I count myself fortunate to have a 1 car garage for my personal wrench room anyways. Keep us all updated on the progress, we wanna see it full of bikes real soon!

Re: Why I've been absent.

Keep at it brother. Every man deserves his own house of worship, a place to study, a place to practice principles of Faith and to commit daily sacrifice. haha
Looks awesome!

Re: Why I've been absent.

And make sure you install tons of eye-bolts about 10 feet apart so we can string up a dozen or two hammocks for DTT Alabama 2012 :) Can't wait to see it in person in less than 2 weeks!

Re: Why I've been absent.

The house we bought when we were married, had an unfinished 30x40. I finished it and enjoyed the shit out of it. And built some fine cars. IMHO

I make do with the two car we have now.....but I still have fond memories. ; )

So, should we bring nail belts and hammers?

Re: Why I've been absent.

Awesome. I can't wait to see this finised. I myself am getting ready to get a 20 x 30 built. I won't be buildingit myself, so I'll be stuck with the payments. But I have to have something before the end of the year since I'll start working from home then.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Holy cow that is a thing of beauty! I can't wait to see it. I will help in any way I can while at your place.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Thanks for the compliments guys. My dad and grandpa both told be sage advice when I started this thing. They told me build as big as I could the first time, because I will always grow out of it later. So I did! I had to have over 20 tons of fill dirt brought in to backfill the site. This is literally the only place on my property that this would work, so I had to get it right the first time. I have to say, I am more than pleased. Thanks for the compliments and support!

Re: Why I've been absent.

<--- Jealous

Looks great Kiley. I'm hoping to start building mine right about the time you're hoping to finish yours. Mine will be a 20'x20' though. I'd love to go bigger, but I don't have the yard for it.

Re: Why I've been absent.

hey bud one thing... hunt for some furnace squirl fans like are use in a furnace... put 2 of those bad boys in your paint booth (i know it is going to be in there) it is a cheap and easy way to get a good fan to pull fumes and what not. then just box that in with some furnace filters... you will be golden and the fans can be found CHEAP if not free bud, that is what i build our ventalation system in the shop out of

Why I've been absent.

Beautiful, man! Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: Why I've been absent.

I'll be down a day early for Barber. I'll bring my tools and we'll get that thing knocked out. :)

Any man that can fix his clutch cable with dollar store vice grips is DEFINITELY a fellow you want helping out. Wish I could make it down. I'd swing a hammer for you for awhile.
