False equivalency I think is the term.

It's certainly a subject that needs to be better discussed, but we need a moral framework for the discussion of what's allowable today and what societal norms were at the time. Unfortunately we live in an age of hate politics where ad hominem attacks seem to have replaced policy discussions.

I agree however this entire thread seems to be entirely made of ad hominem attacks. I've only started to post because of the lack of balance (joking.)

I dunno. It's not necessarily Trump's an idiot/dangerous/narcissist/disgrace because he's Trump (although that may have merit), but more Trump is an idiot/dangerous/narcissist/disgrace/liar because of the things that he and his administration does, like separating children from their parents and locking them in cages. I think anyone who did that would be labelled a disgrace, especially after trying to justify it and then lying about how it was the previous administration's policy. And there are countless examples...
