How do everyone.
Been in the process of transforming my 1999 Kawasaki ER5 into a Cafe Racer. The bike was used as a second run around to work, right throughout the year, but been off the road for 10 years (SORT), not turned a wheel. The engine was left in good order (30,000 miles), but cosmetically in poor state.
Strip down began, logging everything with photos and video. I knew what I wanted in my head (60`s british style) but with no end product to hand, it was trying different thing along the way.
With the engine, it was still a complete strip-down, as I wanted the crankcases cleaned and polished, along with the barrel and head. Frame was cut of unnecessary brackets, seat loop added to the rear, then blasted and sprayed black.
Engine, rebuild with new gaskets, seals, then honed the barrels, re grind the valve seats, polished the outer casings and back in frame..... More further progress to follow.
