2 wheels is 2 wheels.

In this day and age that pretty much sums it up for me. I don't care how fast or slow the thing is if it's got 2 wheels i want a go.

I'm sure many have seen it but there's a great aussie bike film called "Stone" that's worth a look.

OOoh nice, I'll definitely pick that one up. your pretty on point Staffy, I'll take your word on it.

Definitely not enough classic bike movies out there. Not classic bikes as much as Classic Movies..

Yea i Really dig 2 Lane Blacktop. Ended up watching 2nd Disc of the Criterion Collection I borrowed from a friend over the past few days, some nice interviews and extras. Good stuff.

---- Yes. Warren, thanks. He did a pretty good job in it as GTO

Not enough bike fabrication videos either. We have pimp my ride, overhaulin, blah, blah, blah but for bikes we have american chopper and that seems about it. I wanna see the bike equivalent of overhaulin on vid. Now that'd be in the chrisise stocking!

Oooh yea thatd be great.

Have you watched, "Top Gear"? British Automotive show.. Really entertaining, but again all 4 wheelers... and admittedly a few 3 wheeler autos.

but a nice fabrication show would be great. not so much of the antics of American Chopper. Jesse Jame's stuff was pretty entertaining last I remember. Havn't seen that stuff in years.
First DTT T-Shirts. pretty soon we'll put together our own show. a visual summation of the past weeks most interesting posts, some footage of all the cool watches people have, JRK on the $50 mod thread and painting tutorials, Wee Todd with what ever the hell those posts were, 1-800-Cafe help. the works.

or not. :)

Top gear is great. They tried a aussie version of it here for a while and that went down like the proverbial sack of sh*t.

I've been doing my build updates in video just for that reason. Half the stuff i'm wanting to do isn't on youtube or video or anything, so i thought, why not video it so everyone can learn from my f**k ups.

Actually Phrige, you may have hit onto something. If we had a forum section for "how to's" and "how to videos" DTT could almost become the DIY biking hub of the net from the simplest to the most technical.

Thats very true, I mean most anybody can shoot a little video wether with their Digi Cam or whatever. It would be a really cool thing to see / show. I dont know if DTT has the server space/bandwith to host the videos but we're all prob better off posting things on youtube or Vimeo. embedding into posts and showing our stuff.

This board is setup the best already, nice layout, knowledgable and nice people. Its a great point Staff, this can be done. And most likely great success.. even if just within our own little group.

Seeing things done adds a completely different dimension. I know I have trouble grasping some technical things when reading books and manuals. Somethings just have to be shown.

And to be honest anyone who wants to try to do this, using Windows Movie Maker aint half bad. It has a pretty good compressor in there, really simple in its use but i dont think were ganna need much more than what it offers.

If anyone lives around Northern NJ I would also be willing to film stuff for them, simple day jobs or help them setup or edit videos.

lol Aussie Top Gear Sounds interesting. Id almost like to see an episode just to see what they were trying to go for.. what elements they tried to take from Top Gear proper.

Its a hard thing to pull off cause the British guys have a great Chemistry.. With their obsessions with Camper Trailers, and bizarre Challenges.. I really like the one when they take a $1000 car roadtrip through South USA and cause trouble.

Thats the thing, James, hammond and clarkson had the chemistry, and "we can all relate to at least one of em". The aussie series was, well, crap (Plenty of it on youtube). I'm all for aussie stuff (and ususally prefer it) but after one episode i just gave up. It's since been canned and they're playing the british one again.

Wasn't canned, channel 9 bought the rights for the 3rd season and it'll be back early in the new year. The second season was better than the first so hopefully the third will be better again. As for bike shows Biker Build off isn't too bad, and then there's British Biker build off as well :)

I hope sbs keeps playing the pommie one then.

Channel 9 bought the right to the UK one as well so it's only reruns on SBS from now on :(

Cheers

Well that just sucks. From now on the australian one will take precedence as it means they can sell, sell, sell. I hate commercial tv.

Top Gear had one good episode about an old Vincent. Vincent vs. Train vs. Jag XK120 if I remember right.

Yea that was a pretty good ep. Real Nice Vincent Black. though sporting the usual vincent curse of breakdowns.. seemed like an awful lot of trouble with a bike that seemed pretty well restored.

Just saw this sorta campy but pretty neet movie from the 70's its up on Hulu, if any of you are able to watch, unfortunately i think its US only, if not all the better.
http://www.imdb.com/video/hulu/vi2162491929/
"On Any Sunday"
Showcases motorcycle motorsports of all kinds all over the country..

Still havent managed to see "Stone" but im getting to it ::)

Just watched "stone" .. awsome. I love 70's movies this one was a blast. Thanks for the heads up. Classic in my book.

Stone and the first Mad Max - absolute classics.

I love the ride out of Sydney with all the Z900/Z1s and that sidecar racer is too cool.

I'm not sure if either is available in a US release for this Zone. We are lucky to have a cheap all regions DVD player we picked up in China and that thing will play anything in any format.

Ya im not sure if they are available on dvd either, thank God for the internet. I agree, those two movies are killers.

Nice grab with the region free dvd players. The whole region thing is really annoying, im sure there must be a good reason for it, i hope.

Now my pursuit of classic motorcylce films continues.. I'll post em as I find them. I know there are a lot of psychedellic biker films, but seem like a mix bag.some explotation/wierd orgyistic to just acid taking harley bikers causing trouble. Could be interesting.
