Probably posted before, but WTH. Less a "swap" (though it can be rather easily removed) and more a "scratch build" - a Hossack style front grafted onto a 1981 XJ750 SECA. Is my current daily rider, works amazingly well at chopping up traffic on rough pavement.

here's my front end swap. 1974 Honda CB750 to 2012 Yamaha R1 front end. I designed the triple trees on Solidworks and CNC machined to look like the stock 1974 top tree.

I swapped my 1981 Yamaha Virago XV750 38mm forks for a 2001 TL1000R 50mm forks. with a virago rear rim conversion for the front rim. first pic is stock front end and the next two are after the swap
black sheep Moto,
I’m building a cafe racer out of an 81’ virago 750 and I purchased a set of GSXR 750 forks but the axle is way bigger then the stock virago and i cant get any machinists around here to turn me down a new one to fit the clamps on the gsxr forks and the wheel hub of the virago. Just curious what you did on your front end as they look very similar to what I have. I just put a rod in to hold the tire on the forks to see how it would look.Thank you in advance.

Check if you can find wheel bearings that have the same OD as the original virago bearings and the same ID as the gsxr axle. You'll need to have spacers fabricated also.

Okay, how and the heck did you know to get K75 clamps? That front end is awesome.
Thanks!

I did an absolute boat load of research looking at fork dia, offset, and spacing. There's not too many "wide" (195mm+)clamps with ample offset (55mm+) so I just keep searching and searching until I found a bike from the 80's that had em.
My build thread has a lot of my notes and reference information if you're into that sort of stuff.

I also looked at stem diameters and length and decided a combination of all-balls conversion bearings and some stem lathe work would get the stem adapted to the stock DT3 cups.

Nice but WHERE did you find the info? Just reading and reading forums or did you stumble upon a database of triple trees the rest of us arnt aware of?

Aermacchi/Harley-Davison 350SS with 37mm Suzuki front end.
A mix of GS500 stem/clamps, ‘83 GS750E forks, Bandit 400 wheel.

Currently piecing together a front brake for it. Suzuki RF900 disc, single Yamaha blue spot caliper squeezed by a Grimeca 11mm M/C. The fender is off a Yamaha Maxim X 700.

I keyboard jockey'd my way around the internet for all this information.
For instances, I found this fork-brace fitment chart somehow and this gave me a good sense of how wide fork-spacing and fork dia is on various forks, then I picked a model that looked plausible and then dug into those models to find additional information. To get additional info, I would search forums dedicated to those bikes and look for used parts on eBay. If I couldn't find information published, I'd message someone on a forum or eBay and ask them to measure for me. 3/5 times people would respond with helpful info.
Aftermarket sites also publish dimensions sometime, so that will pop up on some search results.
