Let's see your riding boots

Thank god it's March so riding season is soon and thank god my birthday is this month so I can justify buying some gear to get ready for the season.

I've been riding with some cheap-o work boots and the soles have worn down past the rubber to the hard plastic near the toes and heels from dragging as I stop and start. I tried to teach in them the other day and discovered that it's near impossible to walk straight because the soles are so mis-shapen. Fun stuff.

So I just bought this pair of old engineer boots on e-bay. For under $20 can't go wrong, I just hope they fit right. Now I'll be staking out the mailbox every day waiting for them to come. ;D

Thanks man! The best part is that they fit perfectly and look just as good in person. Sometimes ebay works out. ;)

When I first got these monstrosities I could barely flex the ankle or fit them under the shift lever. Two years later they`re second skin but the right one has a hole clean through the soul from hacking at my kick starter :(

this might be a stupid question but are there such things as boot protectors? I saw a guy at an auction who looked like a cafe racer dude with a cool biker jacket, some sweet patches and 50s styled hair and he had what looked like ordinary shoes with some protector things over them they kinda looked like what you see at 33 seconds in this video

There may be such a thing as you're describing, but the guy in the video (Pepe I think, or "SpiderMan" on here) is rocking ancient Vision Street Wear. (If you'd skateboarded back in the late '80s, you would've had a few pair of them.) That thing was/is called a "Lace Saver", made to protect your laces from grip tape. I'm sure they can be had on ebay. In fact, I think VSW re-issued a few pair recently. Also look into vintage Airwalks from the same era for other skate shoes with lace savers.

They currently make a thing called "shifter skinz" the goes over the toe to save the shoe from shifter peg wear.

I have also seen a vintage strap-on metal heal-toe cup thingy for flat track racing.

Commonly referred to as a hot shoe. Worn on the left foot when sliding through the left turns.

After 23 years of active use, the Pibi boots i bought when i bought my Hein Gericke V-pilot leathers have seen better days. The leathers are still in great shape and fit. These new Sidi's showed up on my step today

I work at a red wing shoe store and have for 5 years now. I own over 50 pairs of boots but these are my favorite for riding. This pair is 2 years old with 15000 miles under their laces... This is the iron ranger..

Amazing. I have a pair of 6" moc toes that I love...although I don't ride in them. The Beckmans are super nice. Are they just like Gentleman Travelers?

I'm on my way out to buy a new pair of 11" Chippewa steel toe engineer boots. Wish me luck!
