lost key woes

Been Around the Block
I have officially spent my entire day searching for the only key to my motorcycle.

the worst part is that I have an uncut blank in my wallet ready to duplicate that I bought yesterday.

lammmmmmmeeee

What bike is it again? Just hotwire it. Replace the ignition with a toggle switch. And your local dealer can cut a key from the code engraved onto the ignition switch too.

see I thought of that, and I thought about just getting a new set up off ebay (~25$ for non oem ignitions that look like they use luggage lock keys, nothing even close to oem) but then I realised my gas cap locks with the same key....

dident know about the dealer cutting keys thing... the bike is a 1980 kz650f. Think they still might do that?

Yep - as long as there's a code printed on the ignition, they should be able to get a key. I had one done for a 1973 CB500K a while back.

Are you sure your gas cap needs a key at all? The Honda gas locks all look like keys, but can be opened with any key or screwdriver. Any key might open the cap - yours might be more sophisticated however. What about the lock for your seat? That's more likely keyed to your ignition, and more reason to get a dealer-cut key.

my girlfriend found it! started looking at 10am, its now just after midnight.

this would be reason number 5,763,2001 that I have the best girlfriend of all time.

This key is now a necklace I will wear at all times. first thing tomorrow im getting it duplicated.

good to know about being able to order one through the dealers thogh.

lol...let me guess... on your key ring wtih your car keys!!... ;D

note for every one, ontario cycle salvage on kingston rd still has all the old key codes and key punches, if lose key just remove ignition and bring it into them.

Shit, if you were wearing a sweater the last time you rode, it must have been a while ago! DAMN IT'S FREAKIN HOT!
