Low CC equivalents?

Well, I've been searching for a low CC bike to purchase for the last little while, though I've been a bit narrow with my criteria, looking only for CB175/160s, are there many bikes of other manufacturers which would be more or less equivalent in engine displacement, and part availability? I've neglected to do much research on anything outside of low CC Hondas, and still wouldn't know where to start.

What are you going to do with the bike? Cafe Racer?

There's plenty of ~250cc options. Honda CB200, CB250, CB125, CMX250

Suzuki's got the GS250. Their CB175 equivalent would have been the 2 stroke GT185 which is neat on it's own.

Yamaha has the 2 cyl XS250 and the 1 Cylinder SR250. They also made the similar SR500 which is a small bike though mid weight in CCs. Their 2 stroke RD250 is the same basic size as a CB175 but makes 32hp vs 20, it's quick.

Honda also brought out something called a GB250 - a single cylinder air-cooled 4-stroke 250cc bike that managed to push out 30 horses or so. Reviews from owners tend to make them sound rather fun, too. There was also a 400cc version ;)

Smaller displacement bikes like the Suzuki GS125 may or may not be what you're after, and then of course the variety of smaller 2-stroke commuters such as the Kwaka KH100, Suzuki GP100/125's, Honda H100 and Yamaha RD series. Also the RX100/125's in there, forget their manufacturer though. All are aircooled. The H100 is renowned for standing up to higher states of tune than the other 100's due to its head design, but apart from that its personal preference.

Older style strokers such as the Suzuki A100 and Yamaha YB100 may also float your boat. They have pressed steel frames and often came with neat tanks; shiny with knee rubbers.

Cheers - boingk
