Mad Max

I was watching Mad Max the other night, and I was trying to see the makes/models of the bikes in the movie, but its hard to see them. Can any one tell me what bikes were in the movie? I know there is like 30 so I don't expect you to name them all, just a few. I especially like the one "Goose" rides, the one he's riding before he wrecks

I believe they are all in the neighborhood of Kawasaki KZ900s, but I'm not a KZ guy.

Do a bit of google detective work, and I bet you get a detailed description of each bike.

There were also a few Honda CBs in the mix and an orange bike.
Next time you watch it, see if you can spot and identify that machine.

Do you mean this one?

Found Gooses bike, 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000...the fairing package on it was from an Australian company that's no longer in business.
La Parisienne was the fairing company - my older brother had one on his z900 at one stage. Heavy things, but pretty good quality from memory.

"Of the motorcycles that appear in the film, 14 were Kawasaki Kz1000 donated by the industry. All were modified in appearance by Melbourne business La Parisienne – one as the MFP bike ridden by 'The Goose' and the balance for members of the Toecutter's gang, played in the film by members of a local Victorian motorcycle club, the Vigilantes"

Yup. Most were kz1000s. If I remember correctly, Johnny Boy's is a kz900, and, of course, there's the little twin, I believe, that Goose putts around on, in the parking lot, with his leg in a cast. But, like someone already said, I think there were a few oddball Hondas in the mix, as well.

Wasn't it a triple Goose was riding?
Kawasaki KH or H1?
And here's a hint on the orange bike,
I think they were made in Italy.

.

Peter Barton's MadMax site has good info.

There is a lot of good info with behind the scenes filming shots and folks who were involved with the filming telling their stories.

I have a LaParisienne original that I am using to make 3 goose bike replicas.
They are rather heavy, so I am replicating them in Carbon Fibre to help with that.

If you get the BluRay release you can see a LOT of detail that you couldn't before.

There were a handful of scenes where the toecutter gang was flushed out with local bikers riding their own scoots, hence the variety of rides in some shots.
All the hero bikes were Kawi's except for the stunt bike that was wrecked in place of the goose bike, that was a Suzi with spoke wheels and tin foil over the spokes to make them look more like mags.

If you like to spot vintage bikes, check out the Oz flick STONE. Not a great film by any means, but some fun bikes to be seen.

If you want to dig deeper into Aussy biker film history, Stone is worth a look. Bit of a precursor to Mad Max starring Sandy Harbutt who plays Toecutter in Mad Max. Lots of KZs and a Norton.

Stumbled across a nice graphic today showing some of the memorable bikes used in Holywood.

Maybe. It's been a while since I watched that scene. May have to bust out the DVD again. Been a while.
