Maritime's new GL - 2UP Distance eater

I had a spare glass pan but it disappeared during one of the basement cleaning sessions. I could have had a seat made off that but someone who will remain nameless saw it was damaged from the crash and tossed it not knowing I kept it for a reason and could have fixed the damage with some mat and epoxy.

Baby steps.

So last night even though Im sore as fuck from falling i started in again. Last season my rear brake was sticking so short term I just stopped using it. Now Im trying to fix it. Thought it was a cruddy caliper but as I was going to try to bleed it I found the pedal has completely frozen. So that was likely the issue. Now Im having fun trying to remove it to clean and grease to test the brake. Anyway to get at it I needed to put this on.

Yep, figured out the mounting and now I need a new seat for sure as the 2 up seat is bloody huge now. Ridesolo has one that may work out so that may be good.

Yep, I got some cleaning to do:

and I had sprung for the DVD when I ordered my rebuild kit from Randakk and it sat on the tv stand for months. when I went to watch it and get ready to do these things it was gone. tore the house apart and can't find it anywhere. Don't know where the thing went and no one knows anything. Waste of 16 bucks now.

Just ordered this, hope it comes in the 13-14 day range not the 30. Should clean the back end up better than the Magna tail and turns I used to get her back on the road post deer strike. Need to decide on what for signals next.

keep the stock seat for long distance trips past the store you will need it

That's the plan. the GL1100 monstrocity will be used for 2-up and long rides. The other will be for the day to day shorter stuff. 2 bolts is pretty easy to swap them out when I want/need to.

you can buy wing nut bolts for the seat

i have a set on my gl cafe just for that

I've not seen carbon on the slides like that, but then most of the ones I've done so far have been setting with moisture and the main problem is aluminum corrosion. Check Randakk's site for the FSM and Clymer errors on these. Clymer has air jets swapped and Honda has wrong sizes listed for some years. I marked up my FSM and never use the Clymer, anyway. Have fun cleaning! If you should decide on boiling, realize that it takes a lot of heat to get it all boiling. I used just water with a touch of lab cleaner but I think next time I'll try lemon juice (mild citric acid). Of course, now I have a big US cleaner so that will be the go-to.

that is not from being rich its from blow by or reversion and burning in the carb somehow

there should be no way for the "rich" exhaust gas to get to the carb

im more familiar with this in the cx but it happens in them from flame spitting back thru the carbs from

the cylinders (reversion) at certain rpm/overlap conditions

So guess which cylinders were running rich.

OK, when I first put the dyna in and installed the coils I screwed up the plug wires and had 2 wrong, could that have caused this? I ran the bike for 5 mins before I realized what was going on. Hard to believe the carbon would have stayed through 2-3000 miles and 10+ tanks of gas but maybe. The bike ran beautiful for weeks until the rich condition hit all of a sudden and it would only run WOT and when not WOT you can smell gas and the plenum was wet with it whenever I looked in it.
