If it doesn't work at least you won't have to go far to dump the parts into the crapper.

Ha, funny, thats the chair I had from my crash. I didn't throw it out. put it in the shop cause it is height adjustable and comes in handy.

It didn't work as good this time but I am pretty sure it's because I put the sander on the lid. I'm going to strap it to the side and run it again for a bit and see if I get the results like last time. I just have to wait until the wife and baby wake up. Don't want to get in trouble.

I had one choke mechanism not working when I was tearing them down. I pb blasted it and freed it up and now that they are all clean, what would folks recommend as a lube for reassembly after I spray carb cleaner and blast air in all the orifices?

Yep. now to hit them with carb cleaner and air to clean all the passages, then a wipe down with some WD40 for oxidation resistance. Not going to polish them.

I use a small rock tumbler to clean parts. Everything is OK when I'm polishing rocks for our granddaughter. But when I fill it with nuts and bolts, my wife is WTF are you doing!

I like using silicone based lubes (in the carbs, pervs) as they don't tend to thicken any with time. Make sure all of the emulsion tube cross-holes are open. I use several methods to test float valves before letting them overflow once installed - vacuum with a Mighty Vac, then pressure with the Mighty-vac, then isopropyl alcohol. The bodies don't polish nice anyway. The domes and intake runners, however....

Thanks Pid I have some silicone ill use. I gof carb one half done. Brought the cap and bowl up ro the tv and did a quick polish. Not mirror but nice enough. Hit with shark hide. I'll do them all that way. Got the bottom brass soaking in carb cleaner and will blow it out in rhe morning and get #1 all done. 3 more to do. Pics tomorrow

Glad I got the rebuild kit. Outside of half the airjets being fouled most orings just fell apart with a touch.
