Maritime's new GL - 2UP Distance eater

And if Covid didn't close the borders I could order new shipped to Maine for less than $30 USD total for everything 2 igniters, 2 plugs. Fuck Covid

Larry say's he's got some of the right generation fords in the yard and I can come look. I think I am taking lunch and doing that.

Well I scored one half of one. The plug. I didn't bring more than a multi tool but grabbed the plug and will go back tonight with a drill to drill out the mounting bolt. Need to find one more right generation Ford to get a second unit. The big issue is the one I found it on is about 5 cars from the crusher so I need to go back today or it won't be there tomorrow.

Heat sinks and all - TRIPLE SCORE! And, so far mine (heat sinked with aluminum blocks and shower door rail) haven't even gotten warm.
But, they all appear to be black. You need the grey opens to control dwell on the modules. Still, they use the same connectors so you can get your wiring ready to plug in and mount up the points and point cam.

Shit, the grey ones were all on actual distributors and I couldn't get at the mounting screws or get the distributors off the motors. So I can't use the black? At least when I stopped to settle up with the yard the owner said have a nice day and they cost me nothing.

OK these all came off early 90's F150 and when I do a search on ebay both black and grey come up. How do I know if these will work?

Ok. I read Turnturtles info and now I understand. I got 2/3 of what I need and need to scrounge the grey modules. There is a ton of mis-info on the Chinabay on what works on what cars for sure.

Found a grey one new in Canada on Ebay for $20 USD shipped so I grabbed it. I got everything they had at the scrapyard so not likely to find a grey one. I'll keep hunting for a second unit and get the wiring ready. I can run on points until I score unit #2.

A good thing with the TFI setup is that once you get everything set with points, you just unplug the condensers, disconnect the 6 pin ignition plug and plug it into the TFI pair. No re-timing needed. No other fiddling, doesn't even need to be powered as it draws its power through the 6 pin. I mounted one over the Accessory position and zip-tied the Accessory box nearby (only used for a GPS on this bike), the other farther back and lower, but my heat sinks were not as wide. Had to drill holes in the shelter frame to mount them. Presently with nuts on the back side, but plan to add insert nuts in the future.

I found this list of push-start grey remote mount TFI modules on a Bronco site:
Motorcraft - DY1075 (supercedes DY533)
Ford - 5U2Z12A297B (supercedes E8DZ-12A297-A)
Wells - F125
Niehoff - FF411
BWD - CBE33
Standard - LX226
NapaEchlin - TP33
Delphi - DS10053
Transpo - FM533

Also, check this on ebay.ca: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Ignition-Co...e:Ford&hash=item3cde03d5d4:g:afQAAOSwEDtbjwJQ

Thanks Pid. I got one grey coming and will find another. Didnt get a chance to look but my backing plate is in the shop someplace in a baggie with all the ss screws. I don't have the 6 pin ign anymore. I will wire in connectors to.make the switch to tfi back to points easy enough. The Dyna failed the multi meter tests so it is fried.

Found this list of vehicles supposed to be using the grey push-start: also note that I did bypass the ballast with this - the bypassing is in the plugs!
