Still no cam. I may have to wait for the Irk dyna to ride again FFS. Looked where Infound the points. Looked where I found the plate. Looked pretty much in every spot and still havent found it. I did do the teazer test. Unbolted the dyna rotor. Turned it around. Posmwered it up and spun with a plug on a wire and nothin. So that plus the multimeter tests proves the dyna shit the bed
And I don't have a spare cam. A spare advance mechanism, yes, but no cam. I have a Prestolite system, but it shit the bed, too. You might contact some of the guys on ngwclub.com and classicgoldwings.com - some of them in Canada. The guys are pretty helpful on both sites.
She runs again! Thanks to Irk and the new to me Dyna. Now that beig said it wasn't just a swao in and go. First the backing plate was 2mm to small and wouldn't stay in. Figured that out after about 4 attempts. So swapped good sensors to my plate. Ok fits now. Connected up the yellow and blue wires per ibstructions. Started turning engine over and no matter where Input the sensor rotating the plate it wouldnt light the test light. Fussed and fooled and was about ti give up when I noticed the wires on the new Dyna were backwards to mine. Swapped yellow to blue and vice versa and roberts your mothers brother it lit and then the other was timed and after the float bowls refilled it fired up and ran great! I dont think the dyna was ever on a gl that ran LOL. So Im making a little box tonstash the points on rhe bike should the smoke come out of the new dyna and I have all but one of the parfs for a tfi should that bappen. Points will get me home and tfi will be installed. Cheers
So since I had the bike in the garage I figured I should sort the new bags I got for christmas so I will be able to take some trips this summer. when I first mounted them they wanted to hit the tire and rub the shocks so that was what eventually wrecked my old bags. $20 and 2 days later I got a set of universal bag brackets off amazon and got them installed last night. Had to make some alloy brackets that I'll black out with plasti-dip but they worked out well. Brackets do what needs done and really don't stand out without the bags.
