Maritime's new GL - 2UP Distance eater

Working from home means lunch time bike stuff. Did a wet sand then flller primer. getting close but noticed a few weird spots. Ended up being uncured filler. dug it out and I will redo those a a few small holes revealed by the primer coat. My first layer of filler was old stuff and the hardener didn't mix the best. I got new stuff for the next coat(s).

I get that problem with Bondo Spot Filler. So bad that I've quit using it, and use only the two-part now.

fixed with the new filler, hit it with primer, sanded again, primer again, not terrible so doing a color coat now to see what's left to fix LOL/

I don't know if I told you the back story on that seat... Way back when I started the project on what became the Hedgehog a friend of mine had it (the 360) at his shop to do some welding on it and came up w/ that seat. I was concerned that it was too large and out of scale for the CL360 but he was just sure the thing was exactly right. I tried to work w/ it for a while and even considered doing what you are doing; skim coat the hump and then do an upholstered seat in the more traditional way. I just couldn't envision that big thing on a 360, though and eventually got one that ended up just right. I'm glad it was the right size and proportions for your WIng and that you are trying to go the route you are. Good luck!

Thanks, It's coming on, now I'm looking at appolstery options. Was thinking brown leather but now I think maybe white and blue with red stiching?

Oh and I agree the scale would have been way too huge on the hedgehog. It has CB750 on the underside.

here it is for real minus clear. that will happen in spring. the tank cover will have the same stripe, it's got a 4" raised center that will be white, the rest blue. then tank sides will get the same scheme as now in the blue/white red stripes.

Looks good man, I always thought white leather seats looked good on bigger bikes
I found some reasonably priced diamond stitched marine vinyl I may pull the trigger on and sew up a colored seat other than black or brown. I think 2 tone blue and white with red sticking if I can get a blue to match the paint close enough.

Because you will never find an exact match of the blue, how about doing the border in white and the center in blue? Putting them further apart reduces the need for exact match.

So taking your advice, I pulled the trigger last night in Marden's in Maine, Discount store that can have anything for sale. Got some vinyl in blue and while. $10 for it. The reason I was over was to get the logos I ordered. Gonna attempt white sides with blue seat with diamond sticking in red.

good score on the seat material, looking forward to seeing it take shape
Yeah it was cheap. FIL grabbing me some closed cell foam on the way up to visit so I will have that to replace the rotten stuff. It's my daughters 4th B-Day party on Sun so may not have time to dig into it this weekend as I need to do tires and a brake service on the Pilot on top of that.
