Picked this 5 up barn fresh back in January. Ihave completely taken it apart and will restore to its glory. when finished the oil pump will be removed and a 74cc kit installed with all the other goodies that will make it run the way they should. Slow but sure I will eventually get 'r done.

Nice, glad you started a build thread, never have enough MB5 content :) Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Had a set of "clubmans" powder coated black the other day. Will get a pic up when I pick up. Need to drill for pin location of the perches. Not sure of positioning yet until I get the forks, swing arm and wheels back on. Working in and out of the weather.

Clubmans, have not drilled locators for perches.

'talking progress' how's DEET coming along ;D ;D

jj my stock bars had no locators they are just knurld ???

another MB thread keep it coming

Deet, we are running neck and neck. lol Probably do wheels this week coming. Anybody had any problems with clear coating bubbles? And what brand of clear in rattle can?

jj i have been using ' KRYLON' rattle can product's from Candian Tire I used a black satin for the motor, there special pupose BBQ/stove paint for the exhaust. for the frame i used there indoor/outdoor paint and cleared with the Acrylic Crystal Clear..

Got the bike out the basement to-day Put oil in the motor got the tank on batt fited new spark plug in kicked it Got a nice blue spark THen had a few wobbly pop's.

Anybody managed to get the baffle out of the pipe yet. Mine is stuck tight. Was going to give it a caustic soda seeing too!

Which red was it again on the Krylon. Want to do the tail and front fender guards. I will be clearing the frame swing arm and bottom fork legs today if it gets warm enough this afternoon. Since I used Duplicolor engine paint rattle can for the frame I am also using their clear to be safe.

Krylon 'Banner Red"

Never touched my exhaust looked okay, may be some heat??..
Where did you get the Caustic Soda,,what Brand??? I want to do that ot my Rg250..

Home Hardware.... Draino kitchen crystals. Pour crystals in pipe, add water and be carefull. Its going to get hot! Useing a potato to plug the outlet. 24 hours then flush out well. Got any tree stumps you want rotted?

Took a day with PB Blaster to free up the exhaust baffle before it would pry out. Surprising it wasn't totally gunked up but was a mess anyway. Will boil out the pipe with the caustic soda mix later today. Fun times are ahead!
Cleared coated the frame, swing arm and fork legs the other day and will start assembling probably next week. Duplicolor engine enamel and Duplicolor clear to finish.

Wheels on, pegs and brake lever. At least it can stand on its own now. On to the pipe and tank next.

Bummer, need to remove the swing arm cross bolt, forgot to put the chrome side stand on that I got from Treats in San Diego a while back. Too many boxes of bits and bites! Not much today as my golf needs to be taken care of.....

Front compartment done, one small step forward while the weather is crap.

Snow, you lucky bugger! How did the bike run once you got everything together? Update and pics. I need the nut that goes on the rear brake switch.
Going to drag myself out to Brantford to the spring swap at the Military Museum on Saturday. May ride depending on weather.
