MTD Trail Flite Hellride aka Fits of Glory

We’re now into the two week lead up to the Masters. That means spring break is approaching and ten days off of work. Summer vacation soon follows. Time to fill the garage with projects.
Thanks to our good friend Tim, I procured an MTD Trail Flite mini bike. Not so sure it’s worth a full restoration, so the plan is to go custom off-road.

Stupid Covid

Not wanting to spend crazy money here. Tim left me with a bunch of parts, so I’ll use what he left me. The wheels are pretty far gone as far as chrome, then sprayed silver by a PO. I blasted them and sprayed black. I think I can make CRF50 wheels work here, but for now the stock wheels will do. Not sure $100 plus for CRF wheels is worth the investment.

I’m starting to take it apart. New shocks are on order. It’ll get blasted and painted when I get down to the frame. I was lucky enough to find a cheap Chinese mini bike headlight that I could make fit the stock bucket. I’ll just need to make a rubber or cork gasket to tighten the lens fit and seal it up.
