Born to lose, destined to fail.
Is this the part where I say that I've been lurking forever and I've finally gotten my feet wet? Yea, that's whats happening.

I recently picked up a 72 CL350 Scrambler in pretty good working order.

PO did some cleaning of tabs (obviously not all) from the frame, rebuilt carbs and some other engine stuff. The bike purrs good most of the time and I'm happy with her potential. She's got the stock exhaust (best part IMO) and the stock gauges which don't work (speedo "wobbles" after 30mph and tach seems to do the same over 5000 rpm).

I've already ordered super moto bars, bar end mirrors and bar end grips (DCC is soon to become the mortal enemy of my bank account).

I'm new to street bikes, been on and off of dirt for a few years. Certainly new to Cafe and the Ton Up culture, but I'm really digging it so far.

I've got the mechanical ability of a capuchin monkey on ridilin, so I'm trying to keep most of my mods to simple bolt on parts for now. I'm looking to:

build a new seat pan,
upgrade the gauges (in the wishlist, not on order yet)
clean up the frame a little more
ditch or bob the rear fender (front is already bobbed)
upgrade charging system (need to test my existing one but I suspect it's weak)
clean up engine (maybe paint it and exhaust)
new cables and levers all over
new tail light

So no particular order but they all need done.

My initial inspiration is:

I'm giving myself no timeline. I've got two jobs (firefighter and photographer) (these photos are by the PO. don't judge me monkey) Two kids (one an infant) a wife and a house that were rennovating. Considering most of my current list is bolt on I am hoping it won't take too long.

Anyway, thanks to all the members that have posted great how-to's, troubleshooting, and answered other n00bs questions. Without them I would have already been stalled.

Also forgot to mention that the PO had removed the petcock and ran the carbs directly from the tank via the "leveling" vents on the bottom of the tank.

I ordered an NOS petcock and will change that out as soon as the order arrives.

Welcome to the site man! If you want a stock-ish speedometer, let me know. I have a few of them just laying around.

Damn decent of you Rich, but I must inquire what "Stock-ish" means?

I've been searching through my options and haven't really found any gauges that "stick out." The best choices right now seem the be the DCC mini's but I am still debating on something retro and a little higher on the "cool" charts. Thanks to reasearch (here at DTT) I know I need a 2240:60 speedo and a 7:1 tach.

Well, I bought a "bucket-o' gauges" from a local. All I can tell you is it would be a Honda speedo - your guess is as good as mine if it's a 350, 360, 750, etc.

I meant to add: in case you want the bike road worthy soon. Definitely not NOS condition or anything.........

Cool Rich, I appreciate the offer but I don't think the police will realize the gauges are out of whack and in the meantime I can take my time looking for a set that is going to suit my needs desires.

The hard part is finding matching speedos and tachs in the right range. Seems like every google search gives me 400 Harley sets and 4 honda sets.
