Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while and figured I would sign up.

I’m a mechanic at a restoration shop in Newcastle, Australia.

I’ve been fortunate enough to build and play around with some cool bikes over the years.
I’ve attached a few photos from my phone of bikes I’ve built or been a part of.

My personal project is a 1974 TS250, which I’ve dropped a TS400 motor into and swapped the front end out for a disc brake set up. Still sorting my rims/spokes out but should have it rolling in a few weeks.

Got some really interesting projects at work lined up which I’ll put in there own threads at some point.

Look forward to being a part of the community.

Welcome mate, good to see another Aussie.
Those are some very nice rebuilds. Must be a joy to work in a Resto shop.

Thanks mate, where abouts in aus are you?

Definitely a joy most days, I love the older stuff.
I try to avoid anything modern, nothings designed to be repaired or overhauled, just replaced.

Hello
Holy hell, this thread with those pictures is like wash for my eyes :D

Please, keep posting pictures, because the bikes look awesome.
Thanks :)

Thanks for the kind words haha!

Here’s something I’ve been working on recently.

It’s a Bultaco Mercurio Model 22 155cc, a few more parts to go and she’s done.

I’m actually building three of these at the moment, one for a museum, another as a fully restored rider (electronic ignition, 12v, better tyres, etc etc) and a custom one.

I’ll be starting the custom one next week so I’ll put some pictures up when I can.

I’m off to bed

Welcome.
Good to see a "Drama" getting some love. And the Tacos are all amazing.

Is that Bert Flood's LSR bike from way back when? That is seriously cool. I thought it (they ?) were in a museum somewhere. What can you tell us about it?

Yeah that’s Burt flood’s 360 LSR.

It’s a Model 18 El Bandido motor. Everything else on the bike is pretty much unique.
I didn’t get much time to play with the bike, at some point it’ll come back to the shop, I’ll change the crankcase seals and get it fired up.

It was April 1976, the prime minster at the time shut down a section of the Northern Highway near Rochester, Victoria and Bert flood set the Australian Land Speed Record of 152.027 mph (244.664 km/h).

Had some history behind the engine too, it was previously in a road racer, raced by Ginger Molloy another renowned Bultaco racer and tuner.

Bike I believe was parked up and stored for most of its life and changed hands into a private collection a few years ago.

Burt did have two bikes a 125 and 360 but from what I can tell and people I’ve talked to it’s believed to have been destroyed, sadly.

I am on the Gold Coast. Not many classics around here with everyone being into litre bikes.

Thanks for those pictures. Race bikes now seem to be pristine with high gloss paint and not a scratch to be seen. Back then they were never meant to be show stoppers. They had to be functional. That was what mattered. Looks are fine but functionality always came first, and second...

I remember the adverts in Two Wheels, and I want to say AMCN as well, from Bert Flood's shop back in the day. I had not long since arrived in VIC from the UK back then. That was a couple of years before I built my first Classic race T120 for Jim Farquar in Geelong. 1978 march Winton.JPG That was Winton in 1978 when I won the main event. It was a handicap event and in the heats I had miserable results so I left the line first and all I knew was that were a whole pack of better riders behind all trying to pass me so I kept my head down. I was lucky that day. Fun days.

Those 'Tacos are beautiful.
