Ninja engine in CB frame.

Been Around the Block
So I went to Backfire Moto in Seattle, WA. Lots of cool bikes there that night. What caught my eye was this guy sitting innocuously against a light post. Didn't even have a kickstand or centerstand. Just leaned up like a bicycle. Huh, weird looking bike... Then I looked closer and saw the Ninja engine in it. Odd... Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys know anything about this build. The work on it is pretty damn good, and I heard one of the guys near it say it was from Twinline. It definitely has that Twinline look to it, but I couldn't find anything on their site to support that claim.

Thanks freakin awesome! I think you just started a whole new forum on ninja/CB conversions. lol. I wonder how well that frame is holding up though.

That is pretty nice, I know the cb/ninja bit has been tossed around here for years. Seems to usually be all smoke and no go since nobody ever wants to do and see if it works. I see the frame has a small gusset in the top corner of the left side cover area. Wonder where else its braced? And, figure that ninja motor is probably a good 80lbs lighter than the sohc lump. Just speculation, im not sure. Id ride the hell out of it tho.

Looks like a well done example.

The Ninja 500 was the first bike I "did the ton" on and the first valve adjustment I did myself. It's a good motor, easy to work on. A lot have transmission problems. Although it only has about 60hp, if I was going through the trouble of swapping a newer engine I'd at least use a 600 and see 80hp+.

I talked to the guy a bit when he was at Vashon with it. He said it was built for cafe racer tv I believe. Really cool bike. Lots of other technology put into it besides the ninja motor

Von... your new avatar is hilarious... I dig it! And about the ninja motor, I just had a revelation of what to do with that en450 motor now! (Wheels turning)

Shamus deserves all the credit for that fine piece of art. Haha.

Ohhh? What else did you hear about the thing? I'm interested.

that's about all I heard. There was a pretty big crowd around him. bike is def drool worthy

Well there goes my stinkin idea hahaha

i would imagine the frame is just fine. The 250 ninja frame is nothing to write home about. you can actually feel them flexing under you when you really start to push it.
