Look like points wires. Do they lead to the point box on the back of the left head? There is a pair of double female bullet connectors in front of the battery area that the points and condensers plug into.

Just wish I could find someone with a stock gl1000 in my area that I could look at and take lots of pictures

The points on a GL1000 are on the back of the left head. Remove the two JIS screws from the cover, and there they are!

Yeah I know I figured it out but I was trying to find where the wires went do you know where the ballistor wires plug in to ?

Thats your ballast resister it is in the points coil ign circuit to protect your coils. Should be on diagram but connects up uder the false tank. Now if the bike has a dyna or similar ign and new coils you dont use those anymore. Look under your points cover

Breathers are a good thing...besides electrical the only thing that got my blood boiling was the drive line clip at the transmission. Have you tried turning the motor over by hand?

yes ive all ready done a compression check which i got just about 180 per cylinder plus or minus 2 to 3 psi

cbrianroll where do you recommend i order parts from like throttle cable, clutch cable,?

and also do you happen to know the diameter of the fork tube im trying to get some clip on bars

Did you happen to get the kickstarter arm with the bike? Its stored in the right side false tank cover.
