I did that then promptly swapped them the wrong way LOL>Prob...not near it now. It's easy though, as pidjones said. I dumb it down for me...I put throttle in idle position...throttle a little to check which one is pull. Turn cam on carb to see which spot needs to pull...easy peasy....
How do you tell if points are just bad ?I did that then promptly swapped them the wrong way LOL>
So if Im not getting spark would that be the points ? Because I know my wiring is correct or at least Im 95% confident in it at this point. so now Im trying to figure out why Im not getting spark and ive bypassed the clutch switch and my neutral light only comes on when my bike is in neutral. but no spark and my point I think look alright they open and close good but they dont spark. So Im trying to figure out what is the first course of action ?Yes...no spark, no vroom...if your kill switch is on.
Dont have a timing light anymore loldoes your timing light come on when you set them? If so they are good and someplace else is bad.
Assuming the points are good what would cause them to not have sparkYes...no spark, no vroom...if your kill switch is on.
Okay thanksI'd probably buy new ones...that will tell you either way and youll have nice new points.
I'm the worst troubleshooter...If anything comes to mind I'll let you know.
Ooh okayI meant the static 12V light you use to set them. It just needs to be a bulb on wire or one of the lights with the clip and the point for testing 12V circuits. If you don't set them they will never work. You turn the motor over at the stator bolt, plugs out and make sure the light comes on then the timing marks line up. Randakk's has a tutorial on it on his blog.
