yes, if all the wires to and from those to the coils are all good you should get a big fat spark, it has to be timed the same as points with the light as well, but unlike points once you set the dyna, you never have to do it again. Points are needed to be adjusted, cleaned, and re-timed every 10K or so. One thing, don't use the stupid scotch lock for your 12V to the Dyna, wire that with a proper bullet.
