NOVA - Help with wiring

Doogie

Been Around the Block
Anyone in the NOVA/Alexandria/Fairfax/Leesburg areas good at wiring? I suck at it and know it. I would love some help and would compensate you for your time and effort. I can pay with money or beer/pizza.

Or if you know of any shops/people that do side work etc.

Let me know!!!

Thanks,

Doogie.

Are you looking to have a harness made or help putting your bike back together or...

Originally I thought of having a harness made up but I got everything put back together with the original harness. Now I am looking for a bit of help with wiring up my new switches and lights, etc. I suck at wiring. I did construction for 8 years and almost every time I touched wiring I shocked myself. I know my limits. And what I dislike. I am really looking for some experience and a chance to learn. I have been trying to study wiring diagrams for my bike and I am not really making any progress in understanding.

Good luck - there are a few members in your metro area.

Failing that, if you put up detailed explanations and pics of what you're trying to put together, you'll get help here.

Thanks Rich. I hope to find someone local that will come out and drink a few beers and teach me a thing or two about wiring but if not I will work on getting help on here.

Sounds good man. I am moving over the next weeks or two but I will shoot you a message if you want to come over and wrench. I work on my bikes in Leesburg.

Once I get back from break, I live in the NOVA area and may need some help with my wiring as well.. you ever get yours figured out?

To give you an idea.. I have LED turn signals and DCC's speedo and tach so did the diode thing for the turn signal dummy light, buttttt still am having a problem.. Once I get back I will troubleshoot some more.

I got some of it figured out but I haven't really messed with it too much. I have 3 new bikes that I have been messing with. I did chase down some wiring issues on another bike so I feel a bit better about wiring now. If you have the diagram and a good volt meter it shouldn't be too hard.

Let me know what the deal is man. I have a buddy that lives in Warrenton too.

Hey NOVA people!

Just a quick update. Magoogle aka David was kind enough to come out and rescue my heap from sitting dormant for months. He jumped right in and started getting to work. He even brought a heater!! Dude knows what he's doing. He helped me create a custom wiring harness, from scratch and did a great job at that. Even with an hour of driving around town getting parts and materials we knocked out a ton of work super fast.

We will be finishing up the harness and getting the carbs jetted and synced within the next week or so. I'll post another update of the finished wiring!

A huge thanks again to David. Super cool guy. If anyone needs any help figuring out electrical problems or you are like me and scared of wiring, don't hesitate to get in touch with him.

Shit, I missed this until now.

I am in Frederick, and I know that you've already got someone to help you with the harness.

However, ifn you ever want another hand turning a wrench or someone to drink all of your beer... let me know. Ha.

Leesburg is only about 30 minutes from me.

Justin,

You are more than welcome out anytime! I have a space heater and a beer fridge in the garage. I also have a GS450 that I want to finish for my bro in law by March to be his birthday present. So I can use all the help I can get.

I plan on working on bikes this weekend on Saturday. Let me know if you want to swing through.
