NYC Mechanics / Garages, Need work done

green behind the ears
Looking to have my kick starter shaft replaced, dont have the space or the proper tools to do the job and I'm looking for some recommendations for mechanics / garages in the nyc area.

Anyone?

Works Engineering in Williamsburg
What bike is it? One some its a rather huge job, the cases need to be split. So paying the labour might be more then just finding a replacement engine

its a cb360, and yes, i know all that is envolved :(

would do the job myself but I lack the space / time, I put it together from the ground up and Im not too happy about needing to outsource this

I have top end work and a overbore done to the thing so.. its hard to measure the worth of just buying a new engine over mending what I already have.

Its a lot of work... :(

Ill call works on monday, the bike was there for storage for a while and they quoted 400, steep money, steep money but probably a fair deal.

$400 is way less then I thought a shop would charge.
They are good people and good wrenches. The annual show is the 26th if you are around

Thing to watch is alot of vintage shops are popping up. Most don't know anything and just think they can score a buck. Take it to the guys that serviced old bikes before old bikes were cool

Agreed, very weary of any shops that dont have experience with this motor... I think works is going to be my go to...

Was maybe hoping an individual would crop up who I could pay for their personal time, but I think that's unlikely.

I'm having the exact same thing done on my cb360 this week. Taking it to a shop here in Miami that has done other work on my bike and has been a family owned shop since the late 30's. The owner, (son of original owner who I now consider a friend),is the only mechanic there. Regardless of cost I wouldn't trust anyone else doing this work. It's an expensive job so make sure you find someone you trust. Good luck

I am a professional mechanic myself. Trained on aircraft and worked on yachts for years....If you had all the parts and gaskets I still dont know if I would do the job for $400.

I took it to works, I have faith.

They are all vintange, all the time, I know the job will get done right,

90 an hour, I already have the cases apart, so, hopefully it will be a quick operation.
