Pacific Northwest ton up terrors

Hi guys,

Wanted to introduce myself. I live in Burlington, WA and bought a '71 CB350 a couple weeks ago. I was sitting in a field for three years and was in really bad shape. But for $60 I figured it was worth a try. ??? I'm doing a ground up build and should have it ready for this spring. Look forward to riding with you guys!

Tim

Cool! I got a 69 CL350 (same engine) a couple years ago that had been sitting in a field for $50, dumped some ATF down the cylinders, rocked it back and forth for two weeks until the cylinders broke free, stuck it in a good frame, and ran it for a summer until the head gasket started leaking too much oil.

I'm going to have to try ATF. After 3 years without fluids the engine is stuck. I was going to rebuild it, but would rather not. Carbs/floats are good as far as I can tell at least. It has QUICKLY proven to be a much larger project than I anticipated, sooo much rust on everything!

Where are you located?

You'll still have to rebuild it. Breaking it free with ATF and firing it up will just postpone the inevitable. Out of the 5 CL/SL350 engines I have, every single one leaks out of the head gasket. One is being rebuilt with all new gaskets and seals right now.

I live in Ballard, but my bikes are all in my dad's shop in Bonney Lake.

I'm down in the Portland area. I see the vintage bike night ads in the Seattle Craiglist ads and there were a bigger following here...seems like the only time I see Portland area bikes is when I run into them on forums...never in person...

havent been here in a while got rid of the cb because i was having to many problems and now ive beenmodding this. if anyone is down to ride when the weather is good shoot me a pm.

North Seattle here. I'm up for riding almost any dry day. I'm not new to bikes but I haven't owned for 10 years, well, that is up until a couple of months ago when I got a CB400F.
I have many modifications planned and have no idea what I'm doing.

I have a 400F also, in Ballard.

What's up everybody. 1977 Suzuki GS750 in downtown Seattle, currently DOA. Undergoing cafe treatment shortly and hopefully I'll be able to meet some of you guys.

Have you been to the backfire night yet? I'm going to check it out next time it happens.

I have, but right now my engine is in a zillion pieces in a box in my house. I just got a Puch Maxi though that I could ride there. No way I'm going to "ton up" on that though :D

I doubt my CB400F will even do a 100 nor would I want to try it before getting a fork brace and steering adjuster on it. A ton on a Puch could be a little interesting. ;D

It might. I think I've had my CL350 up to around 95. It's completely stock.

Last time I checked the PNW was Wa, OR, ID... not PDX to B.C. Why be so exlusive? It's not like there are 40,000 of us?
