PARIS SWAP!

Gentlemen...
Lets be nice...

Thats a good question to ask though...
I've found that most, not all, but most... of the attendees of the swapmeets are guys looking to get rid of their junk and guys like me, looking to get junk cheap...

I personally wouldnt look to make a lot of money on a pristine bike at a swapmeet... Most of the guys there are looking to build their own projects. Every time I see a pristine bike for sale, I'll oggle a bit then walk away, not even bothering to ask how much, because I want to look throught the bins & etc.. for that "thing" I want/need

I think KillerD's comment about posting up on kijiji/craigslist/GTAM & etc... is really the best way to attract the kind of buyer you want for that bike...

When I sell a bike, and its pristine... I always get Im looking for - $4500 - $5500 and its never bike specific, (ie: a cb450, cb550,...). I always an particular audience, qualify the people interested, then match up a buyer with a bike...

The only time I sold a bike at a swapmeet was a non running Norton Command0, I picked up for $100 a week before then sold for $1500 at the Paris swapmeet...

What Im saying is that.. come to the swapmeet with $200 look throught the bins, bags, tents & boxes and buy the $10-$20 items and come home wiht a lot of loot...

Now if you want to sell your bike for undermarket price, then bring it along.. for sure you'll find a buyer but you just wont get the kind of money you could get if you try to sell it to some rich, cash-plenty hipster wanna-be who lives in Queen St. W who just happened to see your ad on Kijiji

Is anyone going?

I am tagging onto a buddies booth to sell the last of a Cb750, some CB360 and CB350 stuff.

Would love to meet other cafe freaks while I'm there.
I'll be the card table beside the display of vintage bicycles.......I'll be the short one!!!

Come by and say "Hi"

Unfortunately, my bike won't be ready for the show, but I'm picking up a 1978 RD400 on Friday.....

Im tempted to go, its this coming weekend right? I want to get some CL pipes for my 450, but i have a feeling if theres any there, theyre gonna be $$$

I've never been there as a vendor before. Didn't know they had a show and shine on Sat. I am now seriously considering taking my 750F for the show.

Well.. why dont you stop by on your way to the Chicago Mods v. Rocker event?... Its on the way... I can take back to Toronto whatever you end up buying... ;D

I'm not going to Chicago. Kim's working Saturday and more gymnastics Sunday.

Actually, Paris is a good place to find deals!
I've always had good luck there, providing you know what you're looking for.

Now.....if anyone is looking for an RD400......... ;)

Not me!!!!!! Spent all afternoon changing the front brake pads . A 1 hr job took all afternoon to do 'cause of seized shit!!!!!!! Got them done, only to discover a caliper seized! Smoke and stink!!! Had to replace the caliper, and bleed the brakes, but I'm good to go now! Will get up early to load up. I'm only about 35 min away. I'm leaving my RD400 at home. Not selling it just yet. Definately taking the F for the show!

No rain at all after the early morning shower leon! Good meetin ya! Yes, it's a good time. Really dig seeing all the old bike scootin around! Some beautiful rare bikes there. I dealt off a few hundred worth of garage filler, and almost bought another 750F with the cask! We were $25 measley bucks apart!!! Glad I didn't cave, cause after unloading all kinds of stuff, and loading back up what was left, I still had no room!! I did trade my cool little scooter which I won for a mint '81 900F though! Going to go pick it up in about an hour!

Just got home, great weekend. Ran into a few DTT'ers, drank a few beer, sold some stuff, bought some stuff, watched some speedway/flat track racing....
