I had one of those GS 750's when I was 16...fun little bike

Thanks for the comment! The bike is surprisingly fun... and nimble. I guess that is the 16" front tire. I have very little invested in the bike (I think total investment of less than $1500) so have no need to sell it and therefore won't. Looking forward to some long distance rides once I get my cast of my arm!

That model EF was my first big bike after stepping off a 250. Surprisingly it gave me little trouble over the years I owned it, although I found the angle of the handlebars to be quite uncomfortable so I ended up changing them for a set of CB900f handlebars.

I also experimented with slotting an 1150 front end on mine for a while (I was rebuilding an 1150 whilst I was riding the 750) and it improved the front end heaps (it's literally a bolt in swap - even the steering stops lined up). Not sure whether that was because the 1150 front end was a better design or that my 750 front end might have been a bit tired, but there you go ;D

This is my 1984 CB125S. It is a blast to buzz around town on.

Before: Plastic fantastic 80's madness

After: Stripped down, no nonsense around towner

I need to tuck the wires back in but will do that before the next ride. I also need to extend the center stand and will redo the seat, but those things can wait until the winter. I'm enjoying it too much to tear parts off again. Plus, the side stand works just fine, but the center makes for better poser shots ;)

love it.

Thats respectable HP... hell the J and pre-J KZ1000 only makes 85 at best stock and in an old chassis it feels wicked fast. Nice ride  But the reason I ask is I have one of those motors and a 250 version on the shelf with all wires and boxes to build something with, just never looked into it to see if they have any perf or just dogs.

Not all of the 550 engines make that much power. The GPZ is the top end of this engine. As far as I know at least the camshaft is different. May be the pistons as well? Also the carbs are different.

I´m quite glad I have a quite modern suspension ("Unitrack") with a completely adjustable GSX-r K6 shock and progressive springs in the front as well as dual brakes in the front. So I have a modern feeling, but retro looking bike.

I completely blew the motor on this, I was thinking it was a 500 twin not a GPZ 550, need the readers on I guess... yeah that thing will pull nicely, I would try lowering the fork legs by half of whats over the top clamp and if the handling is better go even lower just to see if you get good handling feedback, you can always mark the locations and move it for the lowered "stance" look

Not sure if it is all the way done, but it is done for now. My 1976 Kawasaki KZ400 D. Not much I haven't done to this bike.

Now we are here:

I cut the original seat pan. I kept the original cowl. I'm sending the seat off to an upholsterer to clean it up and shave some height and add brown leather. I still have a long way to go. Looking forward to hearing from some pros' on the next steps. I went from a Ducati to a carborated project. I've only regretted the decision a few times.

Not a cafe...but still a fun ride more in the brat theme
sorry for the blurry before pics...they were pics the PO sent to me before I bought it. Tank and seat were off when I picked it up so those pics don't really show how it started.
