Those hand drills are actually quite awesome for bike projects. If say, you're working on something really delicate, like drilling out the alloy rivets from some Honda COMSTAR wheels, so as to rebuild 'em with the wider/lighter Akront "NERVI" rims, the drill wouldn't get away from you!

Them DR650 rear hubs are such a compact lightweight rear disc hub, WITH a cush-drive, suitable for a Classic Superbike rear disc conversion - I only wish there were a decent version which looked more period-correct, more like the FONTANA rear disc hub from Jack Findley's TZ700 racer, or similar. There just aren't anymore of the old "quick-change" or "SPOOL" style rear disc hubs anymore. It's a pity is all, 'cause you can have the period-correct thing OR you can have a lightweight compact readily available & inexpensive rear disc hub - but you can't have both. Well I mean, even if it weren't cheap, if it were a pain in the ass to throw it all together, but you could still find a decent lightweight compact rear disc hub which weren't such a boat anchor like the period-correct vintage SUPERBIKE rear hubs, ie KZ1000LTD or GS1000 or CB750F1, something closer to them in style but smaller & lighter - One POSSIBLE alternative might be the Y2K+ Kwaka Vulcan 900 Classic rear hub, but I'd much prefer a 40-hole spoke-count. At a minimum. Where do you even GET shit like that anymore? Buchanan's Spoke & Rim used to make a replica of the BARNES quick-change hub which the flat-track people loved so well - I suppose the closest thing to that, would have to be the old chopper type Harley pattern SPOOL hubs, and adapt a decent disc and a cush-drive onto that.

And there are sooo many Harley pattern RIMS out there - I've even snapped up a few SUPER-MOTO rims which have 40-spokes & are drilled to suit the Harley rear hub. For like, $39.99ea for 4.25x17" & 5.0x17" back when the seller didn't realize what he had on his hands. Said he had a whole WAREHOUSE full of the things! See, if people were SMART, and they had shit like that kicking around, they'd make a KIT - you'd have a Suzuki version a Honda version a Kwaka version maybe two to suit their 6-bolt vs 4-bolt dual-disc front hubs - You'd use your OWN rear hub of the OEM type for your given bike, and they'd sell you a bolt-up cush-drive & a rotor spacer with a spoke set. WITH the rims, of course. Maybe even a bracket for the OEM calipers to suit the smallest period-correct OEM caliper, like the 276mm or better yet 260mm even 240mm front rotors from smaller Honda models. And analogous stuff for the Kwaka or Suzucchini or whatever. There'd be a lightweight rear disc-brake conversion on EVERYBODY'S Classic Superbike if there was shit like that available.

Then we could take these heavy-as-shit '75-'76 CB750F1 rear hubs & 296mm discs and use 'em for a boat anchor or to weigh down crab traps or as a garden ornament or some such shit! Ha-ha.

Awesome!

I've been debating internally about getting my son into karting and then going down the formula car, road racing, sports car racing path that I went down. Or just building a rally car and when he's 16 making him my co-driver. I'm a huge WRC fan so the rally thing always interests me. I've put proposals together several times for Pikes Peak but have never had anything pan out.

It's a blast.
This one is going to be a rallycross car first, and slowly build to full rally spec with full roll cage and logbook.

If you're not familiar with rallycross look into it. It's a damn blast. Basically it's autocross but on dirt. Too much fun.
There's also no age requirement as long as you're in the car with your son he can run. Hell I got beat by a 14yr old in a wrx a few months ago. Kid's a hell of a driver.

Righteous purchase, man! My buddy is all in on RallyCross.

He drives a newer Toyota Celica (The Tom Celica) and tears it up.

Thanks Guys I'm excited.
For 500 bucks not a bad deal either.

Unfortunately have to finish the boat before touching it to keep the wife from murdering my face.

Oh yeah, I’m familiar with rally x. I used to watch the English championship on Speed Channel back in the 90’s. My dad and I auto x together from time to time, we share his mid engine ‘67 Austin Mini. I’m not a huge fan of that type of driving to be honest.

If i was going to do a rally car I’d look for a Golf or maybe and Escort, though RWD would be fun.

British round of WRC used to run past the house (well about 2 miles away up in the woods) I was always working or never got up early enough to watch though. Tried taking my south African Alfa-Sud (rally preped) around part of course one time (highly illegal on many counts) It was a far better car than I was driver, seeing cliff face through windshield then continuing the spin and seeing treetops about 30ft below you, I just closed my eyes and let car sort it's self out. When I opened them again I was going in a straight line. Gravel road was only slightly wider than car, no idea how it didn't hit either cliff face or go over the edge?
Never took it off road again and sold it soon after. It did jump hump back bridges real well though, 60 ft or so air time ;D

I hear you, I'm not a big autox fan either, rallyx though just feels different. A lot more wild and exhilarating to me.
Either way, I can't wait until I can get it prepped for a full stage rally.

Picked up one of these for track days.

I have a Shoei GT Air but wanted a dedicated helmet. I had an AGV years ago I liked and these were on closeout so what the heck. the internal sun shield was a bonus too. I liked that the Rossi graphics on this one didn't have his race number on it. Or so I thought. Found out after I ordered it that there is a big "46" on the top, I missed that detail in the pics I saw. Oops!
