It was/is mandatory in Florida when I got my license.

The class was a joke, though. Two girls in there that had never stepped foot on a bike, one didn't know what a clutch was. Both passed with 100%. Few u-turns, a figure 8 in a box, run over a 2x4. Never got above 25mph. Last day of the class, the girl that didn't know what a clutch was, her husband showed up with her brand new GSX-R750 for her to ride home. She may no longer be with us.

Same in quebec,
The mandatory course is garbage, they teach you how to pass the exams, nothing more. They don’t want you to practice in anyway that might result in damage to their bikes, so the actual riding “lessons” are slo-mo cruises around a parking lot.
And then you get the joy of paying the retarded registration rates which start at 400$ and go to 1500$

The basic course is just that, basic. I took it after riding for over 12 years, Army made me. But the advanced and sport rider course were much better. The sport rider course was pretty good, but your also on your own bike.

Maybe I just got lucky, mine was the basic course, but the instructors I had (husband and wife coupe) were incredible. It was a 3 day deal, one in the classroom and 2 in a parking lot. I feel that I gained a wealth of knowledge from the course. I'd love to go back and take the experienced course now with a good amount of miles on and a few roadtrips in the future.

I think, when it's made mandatory, their not much different than the DMV. Run people through as quickly, and easily, as possible, and take their $300.

Pair of Mikuni VM28 flatslides for the DS7 off eBay.
The one on the right is purportedly "new, never had fuel through it". Both are getting pulled down and cleaned/inspected this weekend.

Not sure what to do with it yet, but i could't afford not to buy it for 300 usd with a broken bearing and a hub on the sprocket shaft at the engine. Wich was 30$ and a couple of hrs labor.

Those are TM's no?

I got some knockoff Mikunis for my wife's RD125. The stock TK carbs are totally done for, though I could get one of the two cylinders to fire. I already had CT2 manifolds so I decided to buy these carbies that have the correct flanges to mate up. For $30 for the pair (shipping included) I didn't figure it was too risky of a move. If I can get both cylinders to run, even poorly, it will still be a lot better than before.

Definitely TM.
Correct... they’re TM’s (flatslides) My first set.
I’ve been saying VM for so long, it just rolls off the tongue too easily ::)

The TKs on those RD125s are junk. The carbs on the one I had were rotted pretty badly.

I run TM28’s on my RD. They are good carbs. I got mine from a guy who bought them, decided he wanted Tm30’s, and sold them to me before he ran them. $130 for the pair brand new. I cut the outlet spigot off my corroded OEM VM28’s and pressed them over the TM28 spigots so that the OD fits the RD manifolds appropriately.

I hope these knockoffs work. They are supposed to be a copy of the carb that was on the CT2 and converting the RD125 to CT2 carbs is known to work well. I don’t need race quality performance, but getting both cylinders to run would be nice.

Love those 400 bandits. I even looked at one last year to squeeze a larger motor in, but the plan didn't work out. We ended up with an FZR400 ex race bike that started cheap and ended up as all cheap bikes tend to - not so cheap.

That one looks like a good catch.

That's some serious air.

Grabbed this on Amazon for CAD $60 when it was for some reason priced unreasonably low. I have a drawer full of old watches (benefit of a father with an antique store for 40+ years), but this spoke to me so we'll have a look. Seiko has a 'Recraft' series of watches based on 70's designs but a larger more modern aesthetic. I'm not a fan of HUUUUUUGE watches, but this might be OK looking.

For $67 Canadian all-in to my door, it would have been silly to not buy. Normal price is 2x that and MSRP is 4x.

I snapped these up for £30
Rather than tint the windows on my wagon I wanted to keep the OEM look.

Keeps prying eyes out and a bit of sun relief for my youngest who sits in the 3rd row ‘gunner’ seat.

Pretty subtle for a 300hp family car

Beautiful watch, I love old seikos. I wear a early 70’s seiko every day and it still works and looks great. I would love to find a watch like you posted, awesome looking watch.

Beautiful Seiko Tim. I love them.

This little air tool is the coolest 20$ I've spent in a while:
