i’m thinking twin disk conversion, flatter bars, repaint the tank maybe candy orange, and stuff to make it run/perform better like elec ignition, better shocks, rebuild forks, bearings.
the idea is to build something that looks originalish but goes better.

Often times your local VFW, American Legion, and other such organizations have drop boxes for old flags so they can be properly disposed of.

I miss the like button. And I like the flag as a cover, or a wall hanging. A tattered flag shows its age and time spent proudly displayed. No disrespect meant to America as I have 3 vehicles painted in a flag motiff , but this is my way of keeping the colors alive when they are too torn to hang on the pole.
The Boys Scouts will also properly retire flags. If someone is inclined to retire a flag themselves, there are procedures they can follow in order to do it respectfully.

However, proper flag etiquette dictates (among other things)
~ The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
~ The flag should not be displayed on a float except from a staff, nor draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle.
~ When the flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem, it should be destroyed in a dignified and ceremonious fashion, preferably by burning.
If a flag has spent it's time being proudly displayed, it has done it's duty, and deserves a proper retirement.
And it's not disrespectful to America. It's disrespectful to the Flag. Just my .02

Like you said to each his own. This is my way of enjoying the flag in my garage. The beautiful thing with America is our freedom to express ourselves. To me this is a way to continue to enjoy a flag. I like having them hanging out in the garage. Even as a youngster I never saw the dignity in burning a flag ,but again just my opinion. Isn't that a flag touching your wall there?

It's acceptable to display a flag on a wall or in a window.
Whether displaying it vertically or horizontally, the Union is placed top left (to the observer). There is also nothing touching the flag from below. And (not shown in that pic) it's illuminated in the dark.
Yep, it's actually federal law: Title 4, United States Code, Chapter 1 covers it all.
Not that the squadrons of black helicoopters are going to come swooping in followed by FBI agents in black Suburbans...
