Problems with mac performance fitment on CB350

Hi Folks

I bought a set of 2-2 Mac Performance pipes from DimeCity and just tried to install them. The pipes don't come with exhaust gaskets so I've ordered a set...I assume they are required? My other bikes have them.

Now I also assumed, that these pipes would be a bolt on app, however I am having issues with them. The header end of the pipe has a larger OD than the OEM pipe so the exhaust collars/shims do not fit around the MAC pipe and I cannot bolt the new header to the engine. Also, the MAC pipe has a flange on it to replace the, finned, donut of the OEM header pipe, but because the collars/shims do not fit around the header theeir isn't enough thread on the stud to attach the header to the engine.

Clear as mud?

Questions.

Has anyone else come up with a simple, yet elegant solution to this that does not require welding and cutting? I don't weld or cut...

Do I need exhaust gaskets at the head?

I assume I need the collars/shims, to stabilize the header pipe and ensure a good solid fit. True or false?

I suppose I could try to source new studs that have more thread but would like some feedback from someone....anyone...that has installed these on their bike.

Discuss.

Thanks

If it has the flange on the new header pipe you do not need your stock shims. I had the same set of pipes on my kz 400.

Caferacer86, thanks, that makes sense. I need a set of gaskets and will check to see if I can either, adjust the studs to show more thread or buy new studs with more thread.
Pics eh? Hmmmm, need to take some. My problem may be solved if I can figure out the stud issue to be able to tighten the header against the head.

You shouldnt need to change the studs unless the kits states that. Sure you have the flange tight to the head?
