Projector headlight project.

Hope the PC oven doesn't distort it. Sweet work!
I’ve got my fingers crossed!! I just bought some print filament that can take a higher temp but I’ve never used it before so don’t know how easy it is to print. I think it should be fine tho.

I think they look great in stainless, but I’d be interested in prices for both stainless and plastic. I think they look terrific.

Apologies late reply! Haven’t forgotten! Just a getting materials list down for the plastic ones. Can make them on my printer at least

Had an insane quote for the stainless ones through get it made. £240 a pair! So just hunting around for something reasonable.

haven’t a milling machine so can’t make them myself currently.

side note. Just waiting for the bowl to come back from the powder coaters. Went for a light textured Matt black. Hope it looks good!

Finally back from the powder coaters! Quite pleased with the textured matt. Stupidly I didn’t allow enough tolerance for the paint so couldn’t fit the speedo. Much thicker than I thought! So had to shave a bit off on the inside to bare metal. Little touch up with hammerite so it won’t rust and the jobs a good un.

made a little bezel for the speedo so it looks a bit more flush. So hopefully final assembly this evening!

jimbonaut I got a quote for some stainless indicators, if I buy some in bulk, they work out roughly £80 a pair . Annoying the LEDs I used on mine are now discounted. I think I can make the plastic ones for about £30ish
it’s the LED part that takes the time to make!

Thanks for the kind words! Makes it worth it!

Didn’t have my soldering iron with me so can’t show it with the lights on unfortunately, but think it looks alright.

Was wondering if the indicators were going to look a bit small but I think it’s okay. They’re pretty subtle there.

Real nice job, I'm also designing and printing parts for my XV750 project.

Was looking at your headlight and thought well that looks almost like a Union Jack, just a horizontal branch, if I was English... and checked your profile...

Ooo I don’t know if that’s a good thing! Those grips are 3d printed! Start button, mudguard mounts, controls, inlets! It’s going to be all plastic soon! Been amazing for this single side swing arm set up I’ve been designing.

I was just talking about your headlight, didn't know you printed other parts, will check your build !

About printing, they can be just the base, I'm designing a fuel tank, which, one's printed in negative will be the master for my mold, going for Carbon fiber...

Other parts can be printed then casted...

Have you got a huge printer or made from lots of parts? I’m looking into carbon fibre for the seat. Was hoping to do a fancy seat exit exhaust and thought it would be fun to make the shape with CF as I’ve never used it before.

I’m thinking of making the headlight bowl at the moment, quite like the look of the yamaha xsr. I think I can make headlights much cheaper if I can find the led projector supplier! But that’s for the next bike!

I managed to find some new LED for the indicators so I think I can make a set of 4 from scratch for about £40 in plastic. Trial with spray paint and prep...

If got a Anycubic Chiron 15.75 x 15.75 x 17.72 inch (400x400x450mm) so I'll have to do it in several pieces, you can make or mockup a lot with a large printer, as you already know, check my post, I've printed wheel covers and planing to print a lot more https://www.dotheton.com/index.php?threads/another-xv750-going-cafe.77473/ .

About your seat, you can also print the master and make a mold out of it, I've got the CF in England www.easycomposites.co.uk they've got great products.

Didn't post it yet, but I've made exhaust mockup pipes to, can be useful when it will be time to play with the exhaust...
