Registering Bike in MA, no title

Greetings DTT

This is my first post here. I hope to be able to make many more, but before I begin my 1987 K75 cafe build thread, I need to know if I can ride within the TIGHT constraints of my lovely state of MA.

bike is from CT. no paperwork. MA says I need title unless its older than 1980 and bought before 1990. How stupid is this state?
Anyway, I know it's clean. Previous owner just never had a title in CT.
can't the MA rmv just run a vin check and I pay the $25 and I'm good?

Or, I "sell" it to a RI friend (where you need no title <2000) and register it there, then he "sells" it back to me and I do the whole process again in MA.

ANyone have experience with this in MA? Most appreciated.

If I were you, I'd go with the "selling" it method. Once it is "bought" by the resident of RI, and they register it, they will be able to get a RI title for it, and then "sell" it back to you. That is the easiest way, in my opinion.

Thanks Matt. I figured as much, it is the shortest route from A to B. Hopefully she will be ready soon:
