It’s my ‘80 750k that I thought would be an easy flip 7 years ago. It was in good condition and all it needed was a good scrubbing and carbs rebuilt. Anyway, it appears people still turn their noses up at them because callers either flaked or would offer me like $300-500. So, I kept it and gave my kids rides around the neighborhood. My kids begged me all the time for rides! I also rode circles around my driveway and practiced u-turns out in the street! A perfect running machine. Last March when the pandemic hit, I decided to build it up. Still a way to go.

I'm in like Flynn. Love these bikes, looking forward to seeing what you do with yours

Looking good man, killer mono shock, what swingarm set up is that? Looks great, and those orange rims are the dog's bollocks

I try to keep all major components within the same manufacturer even if from different years. It’s just my thing. Anyway, the swingarm is from a ‘90vfr750 (love the “HONDA/elf France” badge on the side of it), the mono is a ‘03 cbr600, the front end is ‘07 cbr1000rr. I plan to keep the front wheel orange and rear black as the Repsol colors will kind of run that way. I did something similar to a BUELL project about 8 yrs ago. Oh yeah, I have a gorgeous Delkevic 4 into 1 stainless exhaust still in the box and some tasty aluminum rearsets I scored on eBay.

I've pulled a couple of these CB lumps out now - my back hurts just looking at that photo. They are heavy bastards to put it mildly. Rebuilding the engine too? Dig that Buell - is that front brake rotor stock?

Cognito Moto stem. In the past, I’ve swapped stems and had them sleeved to fit, but that’s kind of a pain in the ass, so this time I decided to buy a machined part. I think it’s worth it. So pretty, it’s a shame it will never see the light of day.

Well, I have a HarborFreight engine hoist, probably the most indispensable tool for those who work alone, to do this. I’ve used that crane for over ten years. Awesome. I don’t plan on doing anything to the motor as it runs fine with 23k mi on it. I want to give it a really good degrease and paint. Right now, I’m making some tabs to mount it on an engine stand.

Yes, BUELL’s proprietary perimeter brake. Looks cool. I didn’t think it worked any better or worse than conventional dual discs. Lighter, though.

Definitely looks cool.

I have that same Delkevic on my Super Sport. It's a decent system, the only issue I had with it was a noise in certain gears and at certain speeds coming out the can. Turns out it was the bolt hole (where the db killer bolts to) channeling exhaust and creating a lot (like, a really surprising amount) of noise. JB Welded the hole close, no more noise

Why not just put the bolt in so you can use the hole if needed down the road for the DB Killer.
