Restoration of a 74 RD350

Here's a couple of pics that might help. The tank in that picture is on a first year RD350 with number 351-107xxx
Thanks for the info. That Brandy Red is a great color. The Ruby Red metallic (looks purple). for the 74. Sure don't know how they got Ruby Red color?

Well you all, had a procedure on my lower back about a week ago. Finally this evening I worked on the bike. Pulled the motor and didn't even put my prosthetic arm on. When it goes back together, I definitely will have help. Don't want to scratch anything.
Will a degreaser be ok to spray on the frame? Don't want to lift any paint off. What I can see of the frame looks good no rust.

Thought I would share this. A friend of mine made it. It works real well. He attached the scissor jack to the wood for a better base. Then welded the platform to the top of the jack.

Got the bike down to the frame. Yoke bearings are a little rusty. I don't see any rust on the frame, but I will know more after degreasing the frame.

Frame paint. If you are doing a true restoration the more original the paint/parts the better. Your frame paint looks decent in the pictures. Cleaning and waxing would probably make it look near new.

I understand thanks. The wiring is cobbled up pretty bad. Lots of spliced wires and connections made by twisting to wires together and tape.
Any suggestions on where to get the wire harnesses? Preferably OEM if possible.

You can try to find an intact full wiring harness on ebay or something or you can get a kit with new connections and try to repair and clean up what you have, the ebay ones usually hit or miss as far as being hacked up.

What part is this and how do you get it off without damaging? It looks like it slides on a L-bracket. But I have tried every direction and no luck. It is a rectangle a few inches long and 3/4" x3/4". Seems rubber like or sponge. D3

If its the plastic wiring connector you're talking about, there is a special tool that you insert and press down a tab on each individual connector inside, and they slide out the back.

It's not the wire connecter. I will get a better picture of the part I am talking about. I am thinking I really don't need to remove it. But it's one of those situations where I have to know how it was installed.

The bracket has retaining notches built into it. The rubber just slides over the tab. To get it off, you usually just have to work it back and forth while you pull on it.

Thanks, you described it perfectly. Is that the flasher relay? I guess I will pull some more. Maybe with a pick I can get the rubber over the notches.

The color of the wires and a wiring diagram will tell you what it is.
