Restoring Gauges (odometer)

Not sure where to put this, so I picked the this area.

I restored my Tachometer, and it went very well.

I need to replace the face on my Speedo, and the odometers numbers are quite yellowed.

I would like not to ruin them, and advice on "unyellowing" the numbers. I know solvents will remove the numbers, and I don't want that. I see a lot of old odometers fixed, and the numbers look pretty fresh and white. Are people just replacing them with the gears and bits from a newer model, or is there a trade secret cleaning agent that will make them look better?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The pro restorers have them reprinted, I would imagine it would take quite a while and trail and error to get the template correct yourself. Give Sonreir a shout he is doing some custom gauge faces and my be able to help out.

I picked up a pair of vinyl covers on E-Bay...They were fine for me....

Still, anyone have a clue on odometer numbers? I may just leave them yellowed, I don't want to kill them...

Not at all. That's what Photoshop layers and opacity levels are for. Custom made mine and turn out, fine. Although I WOULD recommend taking the file to a professional printhouse for the final product.
