Rust Revival Spring Thaw May 15-18

Happy new year to everyone, hope it's treating you well so far. This is the beginning of the official Spring Thaw thread for 2015 and not a moment too soon since you guys have been messaging me about it since October!

To begin, Amanda and I started this as a way to divide the time between Barbers events and to see everyone at least twice a year instead of just October. It was pretty tough the first year. Neither of us had put on an event like this and we learned a lot on how to play host to 35 people for a weekend. The logistics of the cabins, food, support, tools, tents, meal storage, etc. was kinda overwhelming but the weekend was, in all honesty, one of the best times I've ever had. It made everything completely worth it. Fast forward to year 3 and you could say that we're actually prepared and know what we're doing this go round!

That said, lets get down to business and a bit of bad news for some. The first year, we had the problem of getting people convinced that this was where they needed to spend the weekend. Amanda and I rented the cabin complex out of pocket and then we paced the floors. Hoping that all of the beds would fill up so we wouldn't take a loss on the weekend. This year, we have the opposite problem. Before I posted here, I sent out an email to all those who have attended the last two years. We wanted to give those people first dibs at a cabin spot. We took a chance on those people the first 2 years and they took a chance on us to provide a good event. We felt that it was the right thing to do and didn't realize there was such a great interest in the Thaw this year. In less that 30 hours, we filled all the cabin spots and now have a waiting list.

The fact is, we only have X number of spots in the cabin complex and we can not go beyond that. Does this mean you cannot come? Absolutely not. There is a campground at the end of the drive, 2 minutes walk fro the steps of the cabin. Everyone is welcome and you will also have the option to come up for breakfast and dinner with us if you would like to pay into the "meal plan". $30 gets you Friday Dinner, Saturday Breakfast/Dinner, Sunday Breakfast/Dinner, and Monday Breakfast. The campground area is called "Middle Fork Campground" and you can reserve a site @ (606) 663-2214.

I'll leave it at that for now. We will update everyone with whats new for 2015 and the like in a later post.

YES! Winner winner, chicken dinner.

There is a remote possibility that I will have money and time off this year. I might actually make it and y'all know that I don't mind camping.

Looking forward to this trip, the ride, the hooliganisms, the hikes, the beer, the exploring, the friends, the beam, the tiki bar, the stairs, Dogan, Logan's sister, Amanda's food, the rocklobster, the old man that wants to shoot Richard, loosing Charlie, no wrecks, the hill climb and all the bikes in the paddock.

KO

Oh yeah haha. How could I forget the one thing that set the entire vibe of the trip haha. The grapefruit!!!!

As Dewey alluded to there is also a Lodge just a couple minutes down the road in case you do not want to camp. My family and I stayed there one night this summer on our vacation in Kentucky. Kinda like an inexpensive hotel. Not bad but nothing fancy.
