I'll be damned... my cousin built up a go-kart using that exact motor... we used to get it up to 60 on a straight stretch of road noooo problem. use the clutch to get it rolling, then forget about it.
If you were capable of doing a bit of cutting and shutting, an old 2 stroke motorcycle engine could be modified to just use the gearbox (the gearboxes were sealed off from the engine, so it should theoretically be possible to remove the engine parts without destroying the integrity of the gearbox).
You should be able to find a blown up 2 stroke motor for next to nothing, too
