74 RD350 shift rod play in and out is a good 1/4". Is that ok?
Definitely a grove in the shift shaft for a circlip. Not sure if it can take a washer or not. Is this something I get at the auto parts. Or is there somewhere online to get OEM?That's definitely not normal. Is the circlip and/or washer missing?
Economy sells an upgrade kit that includes a sleeve, seal and bush that will tighten everything up. If it's in your budget, you may want to go with that. Should improve shifting. They're $50 for the kit. I'm not totally sure who sells the circlip, though I imagine it's just a matter of sizing the slot and buying accordingly. One of the Harbor Freight kits may have one to match.Definitely a grove in the shift shaft for a circlip. Not sure if it can take a washer or not. Is this something I get at the auto parts. The bushing looks good. No side to side or up and down play in the rod.
Would these items help me out? After getting into the Haynes manual. I forgot how helpful and unhelpful it can be? I found them on Economy. I am learning how to navigate the Economy website.
