Show me your motorcycle lifts/benches

Ooh. Cool I will. Ill have some extra scratch from a flooring job this weekend so may be able to grab it.

The lift that Maritime wrote about works well, I have one as well as the other type of lift. You should strap your bike to the lift like he did because when tightening or loosening bolts you can tip your bike off (don't ask me how I know, I did manage to catch it though). Also the exhaust may interfere with the jack, when that happens I use short pieces of 2x4 to block it up so that the exhaust does not get squished. A nice thing about these is that you can spin or remove the bike's wheels on thesm. Crappy Tire puts these on sale all the time and there are always guys on Craigslist selling them for peanuts. The take up little room and you could even hang one on your wall to get it out of the way. I think if you have the room and the dough you should get both types of lfts.

+1 to all of this LOL. I have 2x4 under the bike in the pic. Nice this is you can roll it around too. I looked up the Princess Auto lift and the reviews were good except for larger bikes. the 800 Lbs is a little less than ideal on fat bottom girls and even though the GL is just under 600lbs I'll wait for a little higher weight one to go on sale.

I have home made fixed benches. I only use them when I am initially building a bike. Once it gets near the final stage, I take it apart and do paint and final assembly at floor level. I use a motorcycle/ATV jack for short term repairs.

My only problem with the HF is they take up a lot of room and can only be used for motorcycles really. I have a small garage so storage and flexibility are very important. Have you guys seen the Abba Sky lift? or the Big Blue lift? they require parts that are model specific to work but they use space much more efficiently. right now there is a dude on craigslist with a big blue listed for $500

Both are interesting solutions. I'm not a fan of the bike specific kit necessity with either of those. It seems very limiting and more expensive unless it's just to work on the same handful of bikes.

I'm always working on one of my bikes so a lift is perfect for my scenario. (Doesn't mean that my Commando hasn't been on it way too long however..)
It all comes down to your specific use case for you need a lift most of the time. In the long run imho, a regular bike table/lift has way more advantages.
