Sohc Cb750f rear wheel swap

Hey guys. I’m looking for some info regarding rear swaps on a 78 cb750f.

Working on a cafe racer build. Current mods I’ve done so far are the “typical” cb750 cafe racer mods (gsxr front end swap, 836cc bore kit, carb jetting to fit pod filters, rear whoop and sleek seat, the good stuff). I have the matching gsxr alloy wheel on the front and originally planned on just leaving the stock comstar wheel in the back but tbh I think the mismatch wheels look horrible. I’m aware cognito Moto make both a gixxer front wheel and cb750 rear wheel spoke conversion hubs buttt if possible I’m trying to use modern alloy wheels that match.

I’ve so far been able to find plentiful wells of information on every mod I’ve wanted... Except when it comes to rear wheel swaps or even entire swing arm swaps I can’t seem to find any info. I have seen quite a few pictures of people who have been successful with it but no elaborations on how they pulled it off.

If anyone has any done this successfully or knows when I could find info on this, I would super appreciate that.

I've done Kawasaki KZ mags on a couple of 750s. GPZ swingarms fit with little work. Also, you might be able to run the spoke CB wheels if you can find a bearing with the 22 or 25 GSXR ID and the 750 OD.

Thank you so much for giving me hope.

Any chance you could elaborate on that? What year GPZ swing arm did you use and was it a sohc 750 or a dohc model?

Also what did you do to make the swing arm fit?

It was an 82 GPZ swingarm and the fit was a direct swap, so rear brake, spacers, everything fit. One bike was a chopper with all 77/78 year parts, the other bike is a 77. The chopper with the KZ wheels I bought with 78 Comstar wheels and changed them to KZ wheels with no real effort.

As far as your front end, I've done a couple of bikes with TL1000r front ends, which are basically the same dimensions as a GSXR. I make retrofitted axles and spacers to make them fit, then make a bracket to run the GS500 brake calipers I like and keep the stock rotors for that particular wheel.
