Getting back to this bitch again. Want it done by Barber.

Got the leaking oil pan replaced this weekend and fired it back up.
The throttle I had on it (1/4 turn race throttle thingy) was keeping the slide open a bit much so after pulling it off it idles like a champ and revs pretty well as well.

I remember how much I hate new header wrap on a new build. The thing smokes like CRAZY from the exhaust wrap. Doesn't help it's sat in the metal dust and oil in the metal shop for the last 5 years lol.

It's also smoking a bit when revved up, I assume new rings not bedded in yet but we'll see.

Tank has a pinhole after putting muriatic in it, so it's going to need a liner. Which one is favored these days? Caswell?

Stay away from Kreem! The crap is acetone soluble, even after cure. I was able to remove all of a poor Kreem job from my GL1000 tank with acetone.

I also like Caswell. I've never tried Kreem, but I have done Red-Kote with mixed results. I've seen Red-Kote not fully break down but dye fuel red for years. And that was after waiting more the a week for cure before putting fuel in the tank.

Slowly but surely here.

Did a POR15 tank liner, we'll see how it holds up. Seems good so far.

Turned down a cool brass valve to be a petcock:

And threw it all back together temporarily to do some testing.
Should have a chain on it in a few days and still need to build the footpegs.

Seems in the last 5 years I've lost my shifter side peg mounting bracket.
Anyone got a doner SR sitting around?

She made it down the road and back under her own power. Damn good feeling after 5 years on hold lol.
Needs some carb work (float overflowing, feels lean), a rear brake reservoir, and wiring cleanup.

Brake light also works like a champ! Super bright.
