Well it's happened, 20th Feb there was a knock at the door and it was Kingstwowheelcentres delivery van with susie nestling in the back :)
She's a 2013 model with 1800k on the clock, few alterations already by previous owner-chrome exhaust, blanked egr, rejetted...a good start I think.
Before I had even rode 1 mile she was in the shed being worked on, nothing wrong with her but I'd been planning my fettling for weeks and couldn't wait to get the spanners out.
Will post pics this weekend, but jobs carried out so far are:

Air box removed
Air filter ordered
Battery relocation plate fabricated
Better egr blanking plate made
Oval racing plates lasered
Bars spun around lower until clip ons ordered

Hurry up Saturday so I can try fitting these parts!

Welcome Marcus to the forum and I see you have the Skyteam UK stainless exhaust which is a great addition, both in the sound and performance. I would definitely recommend changing the std. rear shocks and OE tyres as well! Happy times ahead!

Thanks guys, really looking forward to 1230pm Saturday when the missus potters of to work, some much needed build time (but don't tell her I said that!).

A few pics of parts going on this weekend:

This is the egr blank I machined at work and powder coated black, the bike came with the original metal pipe chopped and squeezed shut-yuk!

The oo racing filter arrived, notice the offset flange that should let the filter sit centrally in the frame.

To remount the battery from left to right and further back, I removed the original tray from the air box-bent and powdered some stainless to form a mounting point which should mount under the cross brace of the frame behind the tank where the earthing points are.

Finally the oval number plates I lasered, I'm thinking of going black-a number done in machine finish silver leaf and some red pinstripe detailing..what do you guys think of this idea? Would like to know.

That was a very successful Saturday

The air filter fitted lovely and makes a great intake noise

The plan of battery relocation worked a treat, plenty of room for the filter

The egr blank fitted well

The oval racing plates are showing promise, also hide the battery-just need to make more brackets

Then got slightly carried away, dismantled rear light unit and removed mudguard...then got the Dremel out and nervously attacked the seat unit-result...I'm well chuffed

Next step, removed clutch lever to powder coat black to match brake lever. Also make a panel to go under seat unit now mudguard is removed..

Looks good , was brave on the seat mod , didn't see what you had done on the first pic :)

Like the central battery set up .... must go and finish my tacho mount ...

Thanks Bojer, it was a tense moment when I made the first cut...I made sure to measure at least 3 times before letting the cutting disc meet the plastic. To my surprise I don't even need to do any touching up! Problem is though my confidence is now sky high and who knows what's going to happen next?

Cheers Borrachadog, I'm determined to get her looking how I want before hitting the roads...I've even kept it underwraps from friends and family until she's finished.

I'll watch with interest ;) - I'd suggest the rear shocks are worth swapping for something with damping , I've put YBR125 ones on mine for the moment - better but not good .

Marcus i didn't even start mine never mind ride it haha got it delivered in its crate. First saw the ace on here and thought i had to have one just to fiddle with.

I know exactly what you mean, I haven't owned a bike for 18yrs..looking through bike trader a month or so back searching for a moped for my lad i caught a glimpse of one of these and the rest is history, one hell of a meccano kit to play with at weekends :)

Rear shocks were one of my next areas to tackle, I'm not after piggy back shocks-I want to keep a more retro look. I see the YBR ones are all coil and look pretty good..does anyone know of any other retro looking rear shocks that are available that are an improvement over originals?

I had three exhaust systems on my bike before it had done 30 miles so think I am in the same bracket ;D

Just liked the look , and "real" classics are just too expensive as a toy and you feel bad about messing with them .

I'm planning to do similar with the battery, but wanted to set it further back and cover with corflute. Is it ok to lie battery on an angle?

Today's tasks..bar end mirrors arrived, plate ready to go under seat where mudguard has been removed and ovals and brackets painted ready for fitting. Also got hold of some red adhesive stripes to emulate pinstriping on tank/seat hump before taking the plunge. Hopefully get the bike out for some better pics but the gardens become a swamp after the recent weather!

Bar end mirrors fitted, managed to position them so I can actually see behind which was easier as they have curved glass..gives a much more purposeful appearance to the bike from behind.

Oval plates fitted, hopefully when pinstriped in red they should stand out more rather than looking like a black hole. Still thinking they may have looked better in silver?

I bought a belt yesterday to specifically go with my new suit for horse racing this coming weekend, somehow it has become attached to the tank? Best get a new belt quick before wifey sees that I'm chopping up new unworn clothing ;D

Seat hump was feeling left out today after receiving zero attention so gave her a few inches of belt as well. Really happy with result and will get those red stripes either side pinstriped on as well.

Looking good mate, I must say there are some cool looking toys in that shed loving the red magura hydraulic brakes!
