Tailight suggestions

CB360 Canadian

New Member
I have the stock tail light and turn lights on my cb360. I was thinking of going with something simpler and cleaner and hopefully fairly easy to install. I was hoping someone could give me some suggestions. After spending an hour on google I'm still no more sure what I want (if anything) than I did before. Also I'm confident someone here would prevent me from doing some douchebagish.

I found this here:

or this http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-lighting-parts-polished-lucas-led-taillight-225-1004p.html

Not sure if the above does the turn signalling as well or not.

That one is tail/brake only. If you want something with signals then search for 'integrated taillight'

Integrated means it has the signals built in.

You are correct, not sure why I thought otherwise.

I guess I am looking for something similar to what is in the youtube video.

There are lots available. In all different shapes and sizes. keep in mind running that alone on the rear is illegal in AB. By law your signal lights are supposed to be the outward most part of the bike (aside from the bars). Buuuuuut I've not had an issue yet. Just letting you know if you come across a grumpy cop he can write you up for it.

Hit eBay search integrated taillight and you'll have more to pick from then you'll know what to do with.

I didn't know that.

I'm sure I won't have an issue driving around with it but my bike hasn't had the out of province inspection done on it yet.

Keep all your stock parts for the OOPI. Put the stock lights back on it and full fenders when you take it in. You'll need them to pass. Well all the lights need to be DOT approved and the signals need to meet the specs above. It's much easier to just take a bike with stock parts in for the inspection then to try to pass a modded bike. That includes the exhaust.

Good to know.

The same guys that worked on my engine are the same guys that are giving me the out of province inspection. I will give them a call and see if they will pass me if I change that tail light. Other than that everything is basically original except for the handle bars, bar end mirrors and the Dunstall style mufflers that were put on by the previous owner.

D4N63R - you have a specific tail light that you would suggest? Not being lazy, just curious as to what other people pick and why.

I have the one that came with my bike but I don't like it. The red portion is way to small and I'm genuinely worried about being rear ended with it. Hold on I'll find you a link to it. The actually tail brake section of the light is maybe 2" wide. Then it's all signal. No damn good in Edmonton. Hahaha

I like the one in your original post. Or these are pretty neat. http://www.radiantz.com/index1.html?c16.html&1

Dot be afraid to get creative. I used one meant for a ZX10 on my GS. It was great and the R6 ones look really good as well.

I like the one in the OP video. I wish it showed using the brake light and signals at the same time, which it doesn't.

Hi Marc,
What seat and fender are you running? It makes a big difference.
Two examples:
1) On my CB350 café project (similar rear fender), I want it to look very British so I've rounded up a BSA /Triumph "Beehive lens" taillight mount. I'm shortening the fender (one of our replica 'glass fenders ) and using one of our squaretail café seats. For turn signals, I have some early '60's Honda parts I'm just dying to see if I can blend into the look of the bike.
2) For the XV café, I bought a LED truck taillight from Princess Auto, tore out the guts and frenched it into the back of a Hailwood NCR seat and used little bullet turn signals on stalks.
Two different solutions for 2 different bikes, so ergo my seat / fender question to you.
Personally, never been a fan of the integrated taillight / turn signal as I think it confuses the average cage driver. I'm also planning on dual-filament turn signals so I can use them as turn signals and running lights...again, a personal choice, but having been driven over more than once, I feel every bit of vis helps.
Sounds like you have a fun project going on - keep us posted.
Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Pat

I was waiting for that as well.. The problem with a lot of integrated lights is general the same LEDs do all the work.

This is my concern as well.. People are known to be especially inattentive where I live. A big bright brake light thats nice and simple can only help matters. My signals are 3 wire so they act as running lights.

Here is my seat with a Lucas vintage taillight. In the second pic you can see the American flag I have on the rear and I contemplated grafting in an LED light strip in place of one of the red stripes in the flag. Everyone said it would not go well with the vintage aspects of the rest of the bike. You can also see in the first pic the turn sigmas I now run.

Ignore the 2 blue license plate lights, they are not being used. Those 2 holes are the seat mounting holes and get chrome button head allen screws.

Not to jack this thread but do you guys think these will sell? If so what price do you think they would retail for? I am making some of these, not for myself because I don't think they are a wise choice for lighting, but I've seen all kinds of stuff like this sell.

make them a tail/brake/signal combo and im sure youd have no problem selling them, especially to the bobber crowd!

The 1157 LED bulbs I have are dual purpose tail/brake bulbs so I'm sure they can be used for all 3 functions. I knew they would have to be LED as a filament bulb would not last more than 5 miles in that applicationI had heard about how much dimmer LEDs are but when I hook these up the other day I was quite surprised at how bright they were. I am only lacking a source for the red lens material, any ideas?

I'm not going to go with the integrated tail light but am looking to replace the big stock tail light on the cb360 with something smaller. Found tons of lights on ebay and other places. I was hoping for an easy swap. Has anyone found any tail light that was a bolt on swap for the cb360 (I' m guessing not but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask)
